The outcome God seeks from our lives is “much fruit,” lives that reproduce the heart and the impact of Jesus. One of the ways the Father “prunes us to bear more fruit” is that he adjusts the primary way he had been manifesting himself in our relationship to him. If we don’t understand this process, we can feel abandoned by God. But if we yield to this process, we come to know God in ways we have not known him before. This results in greater fruitfulness in our lives. The Spirit is the Wind, and but one that blows in unpredictable new directions.
