  • #24: Getting Good (Solo Q+A) | Drew Korf

Drew Korf (that's me!) is the host of Pressed for Presence and founder of Storyline Media Co.

In this solo episode, I sit down to reflect on a busy season where I dove head-first into a chapter of self-inflicted burnout, rebuilding, and learning what it really means to “get good.”

Over the past few months, I’ve been head-down in my business, rebuilding the foundation and getting back to the basics. In the process, I learned a lot about presence, burnout, and the balance between growth and peace.

We broke the episode down into three sections where we covered a reflection of the most recent chapter in life and business, broke down insights from my Creative Act notes section, and answered some audience questions in a Q+A.

    Key takeaways:

    - Why pattern breaks might be the key to lasting memories

    - How burnout can actually be an impactful teacher

    - Speaking as if the best version of yourself is listening.

    - Reframing the question "What are you running from?"

    - Sunday Neurosis

    - Making the decision to Get Good at your pursuit

    - The concept of sonder and how it relates to peace and perspective

This one’s raw and reflective. It’s about business, but also about life. About knowing when to press pause, when to push, and when to simply be.

If you’ve been feeling stuck, spinning, or running on fumes, I hope this episode reminds you to take inventory of what matters and spend your energy + focus on purpose.

p.s. thank you all for your patience while we grinded our way back into being able to release episodes of this show consistently. it feels great to be beack.

    Thanks for listening.

  • #19: 3 Things You Should Do Instead of Going to Film School | Brandon Mair

Brandon Mair is a world-class videographer.

In today's episode, we have Boise native Brandon Mair (aka @basicbrando) on the podcast to share his decade-long journey of becoming a full-time traveling videographer.

Starting with a dinosaur of a Nikon camera and a computer that could hardly handle video editing software, Brandon leaned into his passion for storytelling at the beginning of high school and began capturing videos of him and his friends gaming, skiing, and everything in between.

His journey took him from creating content for fun and for high school courses to traveling the world with the biggest names in EDM and in the automotive scene.

Brandon's story is an inspiring arc for anyone pursuing a creative career, and is a reminder to stay consistent through the difficult chapters where your passion hasn't yet turned into a full-time profession.

    Key Moments & Takeaways:
    - a senior video that almost got his entire high school class barred from graduation
    - getting "good" through thousands of hours of unpaid work
    - overcoming the "cringe" phase
    - landing his first paid gigs
    - why being authentic is your most important skillset
    - learning to ask for a seat at the table
    - overcoming imposter syndrome in rooms of elite creatives
    - keeping your creative spark alive with passion projects

  • #18: Motivation is Bullsh*t | Tyler Geiger

Tyler Geiger is the owner of Nock Performance and is a former police officer.

In this episode, Tyler opens up about the identity shifts that come from changing careers, embracing fatherhood, and building a life rooted in discipline, honesty, and action.

He shares the story of leaving behind a structured law enforcement career to bet on himself, diving headfirst into entrepreneurship with no backup plan and no guarantees. Tyler’s journey is full of sharp turns: growing up with a chip on his shoulder, moving 600 miles to become a cop in Nashville, and later walking away from the police force when he knew it was time to chase something bigger.

Throughout the conversation, we explore impactful recurring themes in Tyler's life that he transfers to his coaching philosophy: showing up for your family, doing hard things when no one is watching, and building a life that demands your presence and your potential.

    🎯 Key Moments & Takeaways:

    • Lessons from the academy and policing in the Nashville projects
    • Building confidence through action, not motivation
    • What law enforcement taught him about reading people and leading teams
    • Why he doesn't set traditional goals and what he focuses on instead
    • The real reason people get stuck in comparison and excuses
    • The power of manifesting what you want through work, not wishes
    • How being authentically yourself is the best way to build anything

If you need some dry, direct advice about how to crush your goals and stay true to yourself - this episode is going to make it onto your Saved Episodes list.

    Hope you enjoy it.

  • #17: 50 Boxing Fights in 50 States | Dylan Turner

Dylan Turner is a Professional Boxer from Las Vegas, Nevada.

Dylan and his videographer Angelo set out on a 50 state roadtrip with the objective of fighting one boxer in each state. Inspired by a viral video of a YouTuber skateboarding across America, Dylan decided to take his skillset in boxing and set out on a similar journey to inspire people to go all-in on their dreams.

While many people might see his journey as a glamorous one from the outside, Dylan and Angelo embarked on their journey with a total of about $5k combined, and have been sleeping out of their car and eating at Costco food courts for the majority of their trip. Dylan discussed the things he's learned about people throughout his journey on the road, and the ups and downs of living in his car for months at a time while traveling the country.

Faith was a common theme that carried throughout this entire conversation, and Dylan talks about how his faith has led him to chasing his passion with this project, has put him in a position to lead young men in youth group, and how his faith serves as a guide for him throughout his life.

    Key Moments & Takeaways:

    • Why he left comfort behind to chase a dream
    • Living out of a car while traveling the country
    • How faith and prayer gave him the green light to do something out of the ordinary
    • Making meaning through service, not recognition
    • Finding joy during the hard parts of the journey instead of after them
    • The responsibility of being seen and leading with purpose

This serendipitous episode came about after I had sparred with Dylan when he dropped in at the Grindhouse, and his story inspires me to take more risk and trust in the calling that lights my soul on fire. Hope it does the same for you.
