Seeing our sin [what we are by nature – rebellious and self-willed] is a work of God. This means that it is dangerous to go hunting for our sin. The Devil brings condemnation regarding our sin. The Holy Spirit brings conviction. The difference is between hopelessness and despair on the one hand and joyous freedom and appreciation for God’s love and forgiveness on the other. Repentance brings joy.

over bad actions, it is much deeper. The changed thinking that Jesus is calling for is a change from seeing sin as behavioral to seeing it as a relational problem between oneself and God. Sin is independence from our Creator.
