#37 The Good, The Bad and The Ugly of Job Referrals
This episode, Genola talks about job referrals. According to Talentlyft, employee referrals are an internal method for finding job candidates.
Job referrals help companies find candidates fast, about 40% of job seekers use job referrals as a way to land their next job. This helps companies to connect with good talent, supposedly, however, if the company is looking for diversity, they may not get this with employee job referral programs.
Usually it can take an employer 4 - 6 weeks or longer to hire a candidate. The employee referral program allows the company to move this process along quicker.
If someone ask you for a referral, ask yourself these questions:
1. What do I know about their work ethic?
2. Will they fit in here?
3. Can they do the job?
If you ask someone for a job referral, ask yourself these questions:
1. Do I want to be associated with this person professionally?
2. Do they have a good work reputation?
3. Am I planning for this to be a long-term commitment?
