Our Siskel, Ebert, Roeper, and Yankovic-style coverage of the Independent Film Festival of Boston with Adam, Billy and JM. The Independent Film Festival of Boston was started in 2003 to provide Boston with a film event that discovers emerging talent and celebrates the leading edge of cinematic story tellers. We were there for the latest installment for a taste of what's brilliant and equally what's butt-ass in independent film today.

Adam quixotically reviews the story of a father and son on the run, pursued by the government and a group of religious extremists (or "cult," let's call it what it is) drawn to the child's special powers.

Short Version: The Jungle Book blows us away! Inspired by Walt Disney's 1967 animated film, 'The Jungle Book' is a live-action/CGI film that tells the story of Mowgli, an orphaned human boy who, guided by his animal guardians, sets out on a journey of self-discovery while evading the threatening Shere Khan. We enjoyed the entire run of this volatile film and talk in depth about the unexpected quirks it broke out from the cut.

We say a fond farewell to cartoonist, writer, and Eisner-winning comic book artist Darwyn Cooke. Cornerstone wows us with it's mediocrity, some surprise guests take potshots at mine-themed games, and in the latest ruining-of-our-childhood: Dudley Do-Right takes down the Navigator.

Heterotopia is a rock opera about a girl who loses her body and must travel through a parallel world to get it back. Lainey and Tom of the band 'Schooltree' come to talk tunes and give us the info on the rock opera and it's now fully-funded kickstarter.

Rapper Nas teams up with Sony Marketing for a Ghostbusters-themed clothing line. The "Nas x Ghostbuster" collection will feature designs from his personal clothing line 'HSTRY' (itself themed around growing up in the 80s and 90s). It will include pieces from New Era (hats), FILA (shoes), Monster (headphones), Italia Independent (eyewear), and Tokyobike (bikes). While no designs have officially been released, a youtube trailer featuring Nas wearing and talking about the clothes is available. Launch events will be held at luxury stores on May 14th and 17th.

Apple now deletes files from its users’ computers. When signing up for Apple Music, iTunes now evaluates users Mp3 and WAV files, scans Apple’s database for what it considers matches, and then removes the original files from the internal hard drive. When users wish to access their music from then on, it's served back to them from Apple's servers.

Utah passes legislature declaring adult material to be a hazard to public health. Governor Gary R. Herbert has signed a resolution saying it's akin to alcohol and tobacco, for creating a "sexually toxic environment." This extends beyond the obvious pornography to anything from R-rated movies to risqué literature. As a result, a movie theater in Salt Lake City is currently being fined 25k for showing Deadpool which shows simulated sex and nudity, and serving alcohol. The theater's filed suit in federal court arguing that the statute is unconstitutional, but if they should lose - this type of legislation could spread to other states. They have a Go Fund Me to cover legal fees which Ryan Reynolds himself recently donated to, tweeting "Thank God, they've found a way to legislate fun."

We had a knock-down, drag-out, no-holds-barred gangsta-ass throwdown with an advance copy of "Dragoon" the cats from Lay Waste Games were nice enough to send us. This is the post discussion and making of amends. Short version: we had a blast, we highliy recommend it. and assure you the friendships will heal over time.

PAX East 2016 was a great time, and a great opportunity to scope out many up and coming game developers and get a first look at some of the big studio’s new releases. The Geek Down was in full effect on the floor and Jonny and Pat breakdown some of the finer, more interesting points. Including weaponized zombies, digitized butts and the cracks that go with them, backstabbing friends for both fun and profit, and touching on the continuing adventures of Pip. Also a 20 foot T-rex. Who doesn’t love that??
