This Saturday May 4th is Free Comic Book Day around the world. It will also be the last Free Comic Book Day at the shop where it was born: Flying Colors Comics & Other Cool Stuff in Concord, CA. Joe Field returns to the show and looks back at the shop's history, the origin of Free Comic Book Day, what will be happening at Flying Colors Comics this year and what's in store next year for Flying Colors Comics. Then, Bobby Rubio joins the show to talk about his appearance at Flying Colors for FCBD. Bobby talks about how he got his start as an animator and his time at Pixar, Disney, Nickelodeon, and Paramount, where he is now the Head of Story for the upcoming TransformersONE.

Henry welcomes author S.G. Blaise to the show this week.  S.G. Blaise is the author of The Last Lumenian book series and she talks to Henry about discovering Star Wars during a time when it was illegal to watch American films. (She grew up in Hungary at the height of the Soviet oppression.) S.G. also talks about how she became a professional writer, how she built the world of The Seven Galaxies and teases what's coming up in the series. She talks to Henry about how her interest in gaming began and also how she became a professional graphic artist.  Henry talks to Josue Cardona, the founder of TAGGS, about Geek Therapy and this year's TAGGS conference. The episode wraps up after Shanclen's Navajo Nerdy News segment with an announcement from Henry concerning Free Comic Book Day & Flying Colors Comics & Other Cool Stuff.

Because of last week's super-sized WonderCon episode, Henry didn't get to talk about Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. After Shanclen's Navajo Nerdy News, Henry does exactly that. Warning: There are SPOILERS brought up in the discussion. He invites Matt Zunich & Jeremy Treat from The Los Angeles Ghostbusters and they discuss their thoughts on Frozen Empire and the Ghostbusters franchise. Then, Shanclen joins Henry to recap their adventures at WonderCon last weekend.

John Cooley always wanted to make a film, but never had time, opportunity or resources. Convergence is a fantasy story with people of color in prominent roles engaging in amazing activities. The script doesn't conform to Eurocentric ideologies or conventions like those previously seen in The Lord of the Rings movies or Game of Thrones TV series. John Cooley and his team are dedicated to presenting mythical creatures like elves, dragons, and werewolves in ways not yet witnessed in film. They're also dedicated to using practical special effects more than CGI for greater realism. John joins Henry to talk about bringing Convergence to life. The episode closes with Shanclen and Henry well, speaking geek. They talk about Shanclen's geek loves and about a new Star Wars trailer that was just released and what it made Henry realize about himself.

After Shanclen's Navajo Nerdy News, Henry welcomes writer/director Adrian Bobb to the show. Adrian's sci-fi/horror short, The Fore-Men, caught Henry's attention last week and he invited Adrian on to talk about it. You'll find this conversation interesting, especially when you learn when the film was made. The episode ends with an announcement for those of you who will be exhibiting, moderating or speaking on a panel at WonderCon Anaheim 2024.

The Geek Speak Show, Vol. 2 kicks off its second season! The new year begins with a new weekly feature and a new voice: Navajo Nerdy News with Shanclen. The Reda Brothers are Jack & Mike Reda, a team of filmmaking brothers who's love of film has been with them since they can remember and that led them to make their own short films which are now part of their Reda Bros. cinematic universe. Hear Jack & Mike talk about their beginnings, their first attempts at filmmaking, and more. The episode ends with Henry announcing two opportunities for YOU to be a part of The Geek Speak Show this season.
