My name is Tarsha Harris. I am the mother of 22-year-old Tyeasha Starks and grandmother of 1-year-old Tanceton Currie. On February 20th, my daughter, Tyeasha Starks, was shot and killed by Tanceton’s paternal grandfather while attempting to pick up Tanceton from his paternal grandparents’ home.

After being shot multiple times, Tyeasha attempted to drive away but drove off the road into a nearby neighbor’s yard. At the time, she also had two friends and an infant in the car with her.

Upon my arrival on the scene, I was given limited information in regards to what had occurred. About 30 minutes later, the medical examiner informed me that Tyeasha did not survive, and I was not given the courtesy of identifying my daughter’s body before being transferred to Nashville for an autopsy.

It saddens me that my grandson may have witnessed the killing of his mother, and I fear for Tanceton’s safety because the system failed to immediately remove him from an unstable environment during an active investigation of the shooter. I was told that Child Protective Services was called and would contact me the next day, but none of this ever happened. So I was forced to file a case myself with Child Protective Services.

This entire investigation has lacked thoroughness, transparency, and clear communication.

Family members and supporters of Nicole Bullock are grieving her death this week, as the 29-year-old leaves behind five children after a series of hardships through assault and abuse. Both Bullock's sister and attorney wanted to talk to WRAL News to highlight how serious domestic violence is, and how high the stakes are. Bullock was murdered Sunday at a Durham hotel room. Rodney Crawford, who court documents show had a history of abusing Bullock, was charged with homicide. One of Bullock's sisters Lakisha Polite said the system failed Nicole and failed her kids. Crawford got probation and no prison time from when he was found guilty of assaulting Bullock, while her child was with her, in May 2021. At the time of the murder, Bullock had an active restraining order against Crawford. Polite believes that if Crawford had gotten prison time, Nicole would still be alive today. Nicole was a hard working dedicated loving single mother of 5. Her life was tragically taken away due to domestic violence. Janiah (20 years old) was tragically taken on 3/8/23. She was an innocent bystander, sitting peacefully on the couch when she was struck by stray bullets. She was 26 weeks pregnant and the baby tragically passed as well. At the time of her demise, her precious four-year old daughter was shot in the eye. She has a long road ahead for recovery. A 26-year-old pregnant woman was shot in Colerain Township early Saturday morning, according to Colerain police. Officers responded around 4:39 a.m. to the 2300 block of Hidden Meadows Drive for a reported shooting, police said in a news release. Once on the scene, police found #IndiaKinamore suffering from a gunshot wound, the release states. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The Dayton Police Department spoke on a “brutal” double homicide that occurred early Sunday morning. According to Major Brian Johns with the Dayton Police Department, two Black women were shot and killed at the Shell gas station located at West Third Street and Gettysburg Avenue. Security camera footage shows a “disturbance” in a black Suburban stopped at a gas pump around 2 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27. Maj. Johns reported that three other vehicles were at the Shell station at the time of the shooting. There was also an attendant inside the store, however, no one alerted the police of the incident. The women were said to have been dressed nicely, said Maj. Johns, leading police to believe they were coming from some kind of club. Maj. Johns is asking that anyone with information reach out to police, especially anyone in the three vehicles that were at the scene at the time of the shooting. A cash reward is being offered to anyone with information that leads to the suspect’s arrest.

A woman died after she was shot at least twice at an auto body shop on Monday night, according to Metro Police.

Officials said the shooting happened at about 7:22 p.m. in the 3800 block of Clarksville Pike.

Police said 28-year-old Keviana Perry was shot by an unknown person who may have been driving a dark-colored sedan.

A witness said Perry and others allegedly got into a heated argument when a man got out of a small silver sedan and fired at Perry and a man inside a black SUV. 

There was an apparent exchange of gunfire during the ensuing melee, according to police.

All of the people involved in the argument, including several witnesses, left the parking lot and business before the police arrived.

Perry was shot in the chest and died at the scene. Officials said it is not clear whether she was the intended target. The motive remains under investigation.

Police told WSMV they recovered two guns on the scene.

A murder investigation is underway by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office after the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old Ames woman at a home on CR 2414 in Hull early Monday morning.

According to Capt. David Meyers, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, deputies were dispatched in reference to a shooting around 5:27 a.m. When deputies arrived, they began lifesaving measures on the victim, identified as Tangela Stephens, who later succumbed to her injuries. Stephens was shot inside a one-bedroom apartment located behind the main house on the property of her boyfriend Martin Toth. Toth’s son, Aurelio Toth, is identified as the murder suspect.

“We learned that Ms. Stephens had been allowed to stay overnight at Mr. Toth’s property. She was sleeping in a one-bedroom apartment behind Mr. Toth’s house. The son was mad that she was there and got into an argument with his dad. At some point in the argument, the son, carrying a shotgun, followed his dad to the apartment where he shot Ms. Stephens, killing her,” Meyers said.

A woman was killed in the 500 block of Westport Road early Friday morning. Officers with the Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department were called to the scene on a reported shooting around 2:45 a.m. Upon arrival, emergency crews located an adult female suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in a parking lot. Emergency medical services responded and declared her dead at the scene. Police later identified the woman as 22-year-old Alawna Collier. Collier is the 15th homicide victim of the year, per KCPD.
