A suspect has been arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend at their home near Spring Valley, where her 6-year-old son heard the gunshot and found her “face covered in blood” before walking to a neighbor’s house to report it, according to a Metro Police report. Ishmil Swafford, 43, was taken into custody Friday in the slaying of his girlfriend, Yetundi Yvonne Negrita Maples. Maples and Swafford lived together at the residence, according to his arrest report. Maples’ son told police he was in an upstairs bedroom when he heard the pair in conversation downstairs. He then heard a gunshot and went downstairs to find his mother with blood on her head. The boy told police that Swafford shot Maples because “she got angry,” according to the report.

The boy told Swafford “you hurt my mom,” to which Swafford allegedly replied, “your mom will be fine,” before getting on his motorcycle and fleeing the scene, according to the report. Maples’ son went to a neighbor’s house to report that his mother had been shot, and another neighbor was notified and called police. Investigators determined that Maples’ family and friends had urged her to break up with Swafford because he had been known to physically abuse her, the report said. The former boyfriend of a Jamestown woman has been charged with her murder. Police responding to a shooting at the Super 8 Hotel by Wyndham at 4400 Regency Dr. around 1 a.m. Oct. 28 found 31-year-old Anita Hyatt suffering from gunshot wounds. Hyatt later died at the hospital. D’Metruis Hill, 31, also of Jamestown, is charged with first-degree murder and felony use of a firearm. More charges are pending. He is being held in the Guilford County jail without bail.This in an ongoing investigation and no additional information will be released at this time. Weeks after a dust-up with his neighbor, a 45-year-old man allegedly opened fire on a woman near their Chatham apartment building — but he ended up killing her daughter instead, prosecutors say. Bail was denied Saturday for Eugene Arnold III, who is now charged with the murder of Rickisha King-Tiggs and the attempted murder of her mother, authorities said. Prosecutors said during a bail hearing that the feud between Arnold and King-Tiggs’ mother started at least a few weeks before it ended in gunfire Wednesday evening.

As she was on the phone with police giving a description of Arnold, she allegedly saw him fire a handgun from inside his van and through the passenger window. King-Tiggs, 25, was shot in the head and leg, police said. She later died at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Her mother was not struck, Mack said. After the shooting, a witness said they saw Arnold drive south against traffic on Maryland Avenue before turning right on 83rd Street, Mack said. An Orlando Police missing person’s incident report sheds more light on the person 16-year-old De’Shayla Ferguson was, and what led to her disappearance. According to the report, De’Shayla was a ward of the state because she was involved in a human trafficking case in Orange County. The teen was also in the care of the Florida Department of Children and Families at the time of her disappearance. The report stated that on August 12 she was transported from Seminole County to Orange County to be taken to a Florida Department of Children and Families office on South Kirkman road. From the office, they would take her to a foster home for the night. The next day she would be appear in court, but she never made it to either. The DCF staff member who called police stated in the report that she was argumentative with staff and she ran away. That was the last time authorities saw De’Shayla until her death. Charlovette Pointer, 51, of Detroit, was found by police officers suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Kim Lamont Pointer, 51, of Detroit, is charged with murder in connection with his wife’s death, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office announced. It is alleged that the defendant fired a handgun multiple times, fatally wounding the victim, the release said. Kim Pointer is charged in 36th District Court with first-degree premeditated murder, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition and three counts of felony firearm. He was arraigned and remanded to jail on Wednesday, Oct. 19. He is due back in court on Nov. 2.

Quardreka Waldrop-Payne, known as “Dreka” by friends and family, was a free-spirited young woman. The 32-year-old mother was shot and killed on Sept. 29. Her 8-year-old son, Cael Thornton, was also killed in the shooting. Officers arrested Rickey J. Payne, who is the father of Quardreka’s twins. Hall, Quardreka's older brother, is now taking care of Jermani and Jermia. Waldrop said Quardreka made sure to fill out the paperwork to give him custody if anything happened to her. A family member has also set up a GoFundMe to raise money to help support the girls. Waldrop said people in the Peoria community also came together to help Hall gather supplies to help take care of the twins. Rickey J. Payne, 34, is now facing six counts of first-degree murder, along with other charges. His bond is set at $5 million

A Fort Stewart soldier and his wife were found dead in their Ludowici home last week in an apparent murder-suicide. According to the Long County Sheriff’s Office, Staff Sgt. Deveraux Cato, 34, was found dead along with his wife, Sashya Cato, inside their home on Wednesday, Sept. 28. Investigators in Long County are still trying to figure out what set off a Fort Stewart soldier, allegedly causing him to kill his wife, and then take his own life. At the center of this story are two little kids. Neighbors told WSAV that those children still don’t know what happened at their home last Wednesday. Police want to find out. Takara Glenn, 34, recently filed a domestic violence complaint against her husband with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service in Texas. Now, authorities say he shot and killed her. She had made claims against her husband, Greg Hightower, who worked as a Navy senior chief recruiter, and was interviewed by NCIS on September 22 about the allegations. Authorities reported that during the interview, Hightower arrived home and shot his wife while she was holding their baby, according to the Navy Times. He left but authorities tracked him down just hours later, and a deadly shoot-out ensued.
