FASHIONABLE FRIDAY [STUDIO]: Siko Republik is an
activewear brand that features a signature Nguni-print
and was created with the African body shape in mind.
The brand has showcased in Switzerland and been worn
by Miss SA’s top 10 finalists. We’re now joined in studio by
the owner of the brand, Jabulile Gwala.

ARTS: Congratulations to Isicathamiya group Kholwa
Brothers who have been crowned champions at the
Word Championships which took place in Los Angeles. 62
other nations took part in the competition and the KZN
based group walked away with 5 overall trophies. We
now speak to the leader of the group, Derrick Mlambo.

Violent clashes have erupted between
protesting Kagiso residents and illegal miners on the
West Rand. This as residents in the community take
matters into their own hands against illegal mining
activities and high crime levels. Illegal mining activities
have once again been brought into the spotlight
following the gang-rape of eight women in a mine dump
in the area last week, allegedly by zama zama’s. We now
speak to David Van Wyk who is a lead researcher at the
Bench Mark Foundation. He’s done research into illegal
mining, otherwise called the Zama-Zama business.

BE DRIVEN: 35-year-old Dr Zikhona Tywabi-Ngeva is an
academic, scientist and philanthropist from Queenstown
in the Eastern Cape. Her day job is that of a Physical
Chemistry Lecturer and Researcher at the Nelson
Mandela University. She’s the founder of an NGO which
gives career guidance to those under-prepared for
tertiary education. She also runs her own waste
management company. She joins us on the line.

The Constitutional Court has ruled that
foreign nationals without permanent residence in SA
cannot be admitted as legal practitioners in South Africa.
A group of foreign nationals filed the application to
challenge a ruling delivered by the Free State High Court.

The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality will be
hosting the 2022 edition of the Sports Summit. It will take
place at the Nelson Mandela stadium from 4-5 August

Recreation, Arts and Culture and the Director for Sport and
Recreation.

We now speak to the City of Ekurhuleni about

how they’re going to respond to the issues raised by
Tembisa residents. Several municipal buildings and
vehicles were set alight during the protest which started in
the East Rand over the high price of electricity. Violent
clashes broke out between the residents and police, which
led to the deaths of four people. We’re joined on the line by
Fanyana Nkosi, MMC for Finance at the City of Ekurhuleni.
