Police minister Bheki Cele has confirmed that the 22 victims of the tavern disaster in East London are all minors, ranging from 13 to 17. Forensic pathologists say initial results indicate that the victims inhaled or ingested something that led to their deaths. The tavern had been packed with people there to celebrate a popular DJ’s birthday, the dropping of mask regulations and the end of exams. Two Limpopo women Mmapula Letsoalo and
Duduzile Masango have been murdered by their partners
who had been granted bail for gender-based violence
crimes. In the first incident, 40-year-old Letsoalo was
gunned down by her boyfriend Matome Matlakala on

Sunday, hours after he was granted bail. She had made
a criminal complaint of intimidation against him and he
was arrested and charged. In the second incident, 27-
year-old Masango was killed by her boyfriend a few
weeks after she had made a rape complaint against
