 SA establishments are getting on board with FlySafair’s proposal to make public holidays long weekends.

The suggestion seeks to amend the execution of SA’s Public Holidays Act.

It wants public holidays that fall in the middle of the week moved to either a Friday or Monday.

Similar efforts had taken place in the US, UK, Argentina and Japan.

Schools have been closed indefinitely in eSwatini amid violent
protests. Last week police opened fire on protesting students, resulting in
one death and over a dozen others injured. The United Nations has
called on the eSwatini government to prioritise children's rights and
raised concerns about the use of excessive force reported at student
demonstrations. The protests have been ongoing since June 2021. We
