INTERVIEW: Construction companies, builders, transport and even psychologists are volunteering their services for free under the banner RebuildSA, as some parts of Gauteng and KZN prepare for mopping up operations. RebuildSA is a Facebook page created for communities to take back their power and start cleaning up the looted malls, shopping centres and businesses. We now speak to Mbali Ndlovu who is the creator of the page.

BE DRIVEN: South Africa’s first black woman to own a microbrewery has had to shut down her business after months of little to no income as a result of lockdown regulations. Apiwe Nxusani-Mawela who was born and raised in Butterworth in the Eastern Cape founded Brewsters Craft in 2015 and it introduces students to the science of beer making through training and provides professional breweries a service through beer quality testing. In 2019 she launched her own beer and cider brand called Tolokazi. She joins us on the line.

INTERVIEW: Two community-run radio stations have gone off air after looters robbed them of broadcast equipment. Criminals broke into the Alex FM offices and stole broadcasting equipment. Mams Radio in Mamelodi, Tshwane, was also vandalised and looted. We now speak to Alex FM Station Manager Takalani Nemangowe.

INTERVIEW: Ongoing violent protests have hampered healthcare at some hospitals and the rollout of vaccinations in Gauteng and KZN. Furthermore, the protests have prevented some staff members from being able to report for duty. To speak to us more we have Dr Lesley Bamford, Chief Director at the National Department of Health.

INTERVIEW: Police have confirmed that a total of six people have been killed while more than 200 others have been arrested for the public unrest in KZN and Gauteng.

What initially started as protests by some calling for the release of former President Jacob Zuma from prison in KZN, spilled over to parts of Gauteng over the weekend.
