Our guest today is David Magley. David is the president of The Basketball League (TBL). TBL is about to start their 3rd season in the early half of 2021. During this offseason they have seen significant growth. While all the teams from last year have plans to comeback, TBL has already added 8 other teams with more promised to join (per this episode with David). The league often compares themselves to what AA baseball is here in the US, meaning that they are the 3rd highest talent-level of basketball in the US; first being the NBA and the G-League being second. We talk about the teams that are no longer, the cut-short season of last year, COVID19 percausions for their current tryouts, the new teams for next year, and manageable growth (among other topics.) All of these topics and more on this special edition of The Globally Ballin Podcast, enjoy!

We've talked hockey before, and we have talked women's hockey before. In the past, we looked at a totally different region. In past episodes we have looked at the current state of hockey, specifically women's hockey, in Asia. For this episode, our guest, Chloe Young, helps us break down the current state of women's hockey in Scotland and England. Chloe plays hockey in Scotland and is an ambassador for women's hockey, so her insight is immensely valuable. If you haven't already, we would encourage you to go back and listen to to past episodes, episode 19 with Danielle Imperial and episode 29 with Kayla Franchesca. These two episodes also talk about women's hockey. We'd encourage you to listen to those episodes first and then this episode. Once that is done, you can compare and contrast the differences in the different regions when it comes to women's hockey. Both regions are in the beginning stages, but for what reasons? Are they both being held back for the same reasons? What can be done to change it? Where role international competition play when it comes to the growth of a league in a country? What is the future for women's hockey in Scotland and England? All this and more in this special episode of The Globally Ballin Podcast. Please enjoy, thank you!

In the past, we talked with Zach Melcher, a professional mens volleyball player who played in the Czech Republic. For this episode we are also joined with a mens professional volleyball player who played in the Czech Republic, Matt August. While also coming from the same region of the country, Zach and Matt have different stories. We believe that this is a very important reminder to you listeners and athletes. While on the surface two stories may seem like they should be the same, all players are different therefore all their stories and experiences are also different. While you may not relate to one you may relate from another. This episode is absolutely the case. Matt and Zach's journeys are different therefore their stories and lessons are different. Please enjoy this episode with special guest, Matt August, while we talk about things like the regionality of mens volleyball, where it is growing in the US, the awareness of the opportunities at a high school level, the different leagues in Europe and around the world and so much more. Please enjoy, thank you!

First off, THANK YOU all for your support. 50 episodes is a major milestone and we thank all of you!
In the past, when we talked with Claire Winter in episode 22, we talked about the NWSL (National Women's Soccer League). We did not dive much into the league because Claire's journey did not include a stint in the NWSL. However, since then, we have been hoping to get to talk with someone in the league; today is the day. For this episode we were joined with head coach of the Washington Spirt, Richie Burke. The Washington Spirt are one of the teams in the NWSL. In the interview we discuss a few key things like, what is the effect of having two different teams in market that play the same sport? Does it split the market share? Does it develop a sense of partnership? Where does the NWSL rank in the rest of the world? What are the expansion plans of the NWSL? What was the effect of past attempts at professional women's soccer in the US? Pay issue, is there really an issue? Why do the athletes need more? All of these questions and more in this special episode of The Globally Ballin Podcast!
