The Fear Archive is a true crime and horror film podcast — every episode pairs a real case with the horror film it inspired. This is our Black Christmas episode, currently our top performing episode, approaching half a million listens.
Black Christmas, 1974. It predates Halloween by four years. It laid the blueprint for every killer-in-the-house film that followed. The real case behind it involves a man who hid himself inside a sorority house and was never identified. He was already there before the movie started. Still there at the end.
Hosted by Amanda Kagiwada and Michael Ryan Assip. Introduced by Michael Ryan Assip, co-writer of Hollow. Executive produced by Cassie Jozefov. A Violet Hour Media production.
Popular Topics Include: Fear Archive podcast, Black Christmas 1974, Black Christmas true story, Daniel LaPlante, sorority house killer, killer in the house horror, slasher horror history, horror podcast, true crime horror, Violet Hour Media

The series finale of faux true crime fiction podcast The Gloom — Tobin Bell (Jigsaw, Saw franchise) as Dr. Lasher, in his final episode.
Fire at the Filmore Psychiatric Facility in Queens Village. Ward Nine — the adolescent ward — is completely destroyed. One fatality confirmed. Two patients are missing, both minors. The body has been taken to the medical examiner. It is 10pm. Do you know where your children are?
Samantha Williams has spent eight episodes following the tapes, the transcripts, the recordings that should not exist. She has found the truth about the Night of the Filmore Four. She is going to tell it now.
The series concludes. All eight episodes are now available.

Faux true crime fiction podcast The Gloom introduces its villain — Tobin Bell (Jigsaw, Saw franchise) as Dr. Lasher, the psychiatrist who replaced Dr. Harrington at Filmore after her sudden absence.
Dr. Darlene Harrington is no longer at the Filmore facility. She has been removed without explanation. Alicia and Roland are now under the care of Dr. Lasher — a man whose therapy recordings are calm, methodical, and deeply wrong. Samantha can hear it in the tapes. The children can hear it in the room. And the thing that has been humming beneath every episode of this series has grown louder.

Faux true crime fiction podcast The Gloom follows Dr. Harrington into the hospital — and finds that the institutional machinery of cover-up is already moving.
Dr. Darlene Harrington regains consciousness in a hospital room to find Detective Filardo waiting for her. He wants to know about Bruce Russo. He does not ask about the children. He does not ask about the Gloom. And Dr. Harrington, who has spent years speaking carefully about the Filmore Four, realizes that the conversation she is being offered is not about finding the truth — it is about containing it.

Faux true crime fiction podcast The Gloom reaches the courtroom — and the trial of Bruce Russo, the only adult charged in connection with the Night of the Filmore Four.
The trial of Bruce Russo lasted eleven days. On the third day, during cross-examination, something happened on the stand that caused the judge to clear the courtroom and seal the transcript. Samantha has obtained a partial recording of what occurred — a recording in which Bruce Russo's voice changes mid-testimony into something that does not sound like Bruce Russo, and begins answering questions nobody in the courtroom asked.

Faux true crime fiction podcast The Gloom obtains the autopsy recording of Kiara Walford — the one member of the Filmore Four whose body was recovered.
Kiara Walford was sixteen years old. The official cause of death listed on her death certificate has been contested by the medical examiner who conducted the autopsy, who has since retired and declined all media requests. Samantha has obtained the original recording of the autopsy — a micro-cassette recording made by the examiner during the procedure. What he says on the tape does not match what was filed with the city.

Faux true crime fiction podcast The Gloom enters the therapy room — and the recordings that Dr. Harrington kept of her sessions with Roland, one of the Filmore Four.
Roland was fourteen years old when he arrived at Filmore. Dr. Harrington's session tapes document his deterioration over the weeks leading up to the Night of the Filmore Four — a deterioration that does not match any clinical diagnosis on record. He is afraid of something. The something has a hum. And by the final tape in the sequence, Roland is no longer entirely himself.
