All the names you need to know at every position for the 2024 Tulsa Football season.
Who will start at QB? Why is Malachai Jones playing safety now? Will Braylin Presley finally break out? Is the defensive line the most underrated group on the team? Are the vibes around the team as good as they seem from the outside, or is it just standard preseason hype?
We answer all these questions and more to kick off the SEVENTH (!) season of The Golden Hurricast. To help us figure it all out, we welcome Cayden McFarland onto the show for the fourth time. Cayden is the sports director for 2 News Oklahoma (KJRH) in Tulsa, and is one of the best folks out there covering TU sports these days. He's also just an awesome guy to talk to.
We get an initial vibe check on the team before talking about every position group and the names you should know at each spot. We close things down with a listener question and some record predictions.

Hello from the offseason! We're back with a quick 2024 Tulsa Football preview breaking down the upcoming season in under five minutes.
A Tulane podcast called The Uptown Update is putting together an offseason special with quick football previews from every AAC school. This is ours! Keep an eye on their podcast feed for the full preview with all the other AAC schools here in the coming weeks. I'm really looking forward to that.
Did we miss something in our preview? Do you have a breakout player in mind that we didn't mention here? Let us know what you think on X @GoldenHurricast
Rick Dickson joins the podcast for a record 5th and final time... as Tulsa's AD. We talk about his retirement, reminisce on his time at TU, the Blue & Gold weekend, and answer some listener questions.
We're officially in the best sports time of the year in this podcast host's humble opinion. And despite the women bowing out early in the AAC tournament to East Carolina, we're still fired up for March.
We discuss:
- The men's and women's AAC awards
- The women losing to ECU in the AAC quarterfinals and heading to the WBIT
- The men beating #24 USF to close the regular season
- Preview the men's game against ECU with Jared Shafit from The Boneyard Podcast
- Discuss the AAC tournament more broadly
Fun episode! Hope you enjoy it.
For the first time in a month, we've got an episode with both Ryan AND Matt - and we are pumped to be back.
Before we get into the actual games that happened over the last week of actual basketball, we talk about Kelly Hines writing another new article for TU athletics, as well as a new Tulsa student fan group called The CHAOS.
We then get into the games, which included a wild swing on the men's side where TU scored over 100 points in a blowout win, then followed that up by allowing over 100 points in a blowout loss.
The women had a more sane week with two nice wins but get ready for a much more difficult week coming up.
We also take a look around the league and debate who the most important player on the women's team is: Temira Poindexter or Delanie Crawford.
