In the first segment of this week's show, Holly G, Host and Producer of The Golf Insiders, along with Will Perry, Social Media Expert for The Golf Insiders and Founder and Creative Director at EVVUS, talk about the season wrapping up on the Champions Tour with the Schwab Cup, the LPGA's Race to the CME Globe and Pat Perez's win on the PGA Tour after returning from an injury. He shot a 62 and 63 during his four rounds.
Bob Harig, ESPN.com, joins the show. Holly asks Bob about Tiger's progress and Tiger's commitment in the upcoming Hero World Challenge. Bob talks about Perez's injury and that he and Tiger are about the same age. Bob thinks that maybe it is a boost to Tiger to see someone of his age to have a major injury and then come back and not only compete but win in his third event as Perez did.
Bob said that Tiger will need some time to get his game back to form. The fact that Perez won so quickly after surgery was an anomaly. Will asks Bob if the media will let Tiger come back at a slower pace that he needs?
Bob said that Tiger does not always start well. He has first tee jitters at times. Bob says that Tiger trying to win the Masters or any tournament at this time should not be on anyone's mind. Even though it will probably be on Tiger's mind.
Bob says that Tiger needs time to practice, compete in a tournament, recover and repeat the process over and over.
In the second segment of the show, Holly G, Host Will Perry, welcome Steve Eubanks who calls in from Naples, Fla, where the final event of the LPGA season is taking place. The Race to the CME Globe. Lydia Ko and Ariya Jutanugarn are in a close race.
Steve said that this is like the final leg of a marathon and that there are some tired golfers practicing. This is the first time the LPGA is back on US soil since the end of July.
Steve said like any marathon, it usually is the person who has the most intestinal fortitude is the one who is able to pull this thing out.
Lydia Ko has won the last two CME Globes.
Will asks Steve how Tiburon Golf Club looks after the big overhaul. The greens are different and the speed is pretty fast. Everyone is going to be feeling it out the first day. It is really going to reward people's ball striking.
Holly asks Steve to fill listeners in on Ariya's accomplishments this season. Holly said Ariya's swing coach, Gary Gilchrist from the Mission Inn, has a stable of successful LPGA players. Steve said that Ariya had some injuries and some growing pains but once she got headed in the right direction, she started winning.
Holly asks about the disappointing year for the Americans. He said that the ladies are getting tired of hearing about it. He said there has been success for the Americans this year.
Steve likes defending champ Cristie Kerr to win the CME Group Tour Championship and Ariya to hold on and win the Race to the CME Globe.
In the third segment of the show, Holly G and Will Perry are joined by Todd Lewis from the Golf Channel. Holly asks Todd about Pat Perez's win after his shoulder surgery.
Todd thinks that while Pat was healing that at 41 he doesn't have that much time left.
Holly turns her attention to Sea Island and this week's event that has a descent field. There are a lot of good players and over the years, this event has built the momentum.
