  • #128 Claire Throssell I Won’t Stop Fighting For My Boys

    Send us Fan Mail

In this episode of The Good, The Bad & The Ugly Podcast, Tony Murrell sits down with Claire Throssell, a mother, campaigner and advocate for children’s safety.

In October 2014, Claire’s life changed forever when her two sons, Jack and Paul, lost their lives in a deliberate house fire caused by their father, Claire’s estranged husband.

In this deeply personal conversation, Claire talks about her boys, what they were like growing up, their personalities, and the memories she continues to carry with her.

She also opens up about the abuse and controlling behaviour she experienced during her marriage, how things changed over time, and the challenges she faced after leaving the relationship.

Claire reflects on the sudden loss of her own dad while she was pregnant, the devastating events surrounding the loss of Jack and Paul, and what it was like dealing with the press during one of the darkest periods of her life.

We also discuss the importance of recognising coercive and controlling behaviour, listening when children express fear, and taking concerns about domestic abuse seriously.

Since losing her sons, Claire has campaigned tirelessly for changes to the family court system and better safeguards for children at risk of harm during parental contact.

Her story is heartbreaking, but it is also a story of a mother’s love and her determination to help protect other families from experiencing similar tragedies.

This episode discusses domestic abuse, coercive control, bereavement and the loss of children. Please take care while listening.
