God says that he visits (punishes) us, the children, for the sins (iniquities) of our fathers. That is why when we confess our sins to him, we should also confess the sins of our fathers.
And hath made us a kingdom, and priests to God and his Father, to him be glory and empire for ever and ever. Amen.
The following cause man to
1. God's chastisement/punishment of man for sin
2. Satan caused infirmities and possession of man
3. God's allowing Satan to inflict man with physical and mental distress to test their loyalty to God
4. Man's freewill evil acts
The Holy Spirit is God: After a believer in Jesus Christ repents of his sins and is water baptized for forgiveness of his sins, he can ask God to give him his Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is then given to the believer by the laying on of hands of a leader of the church. The Holy Spirit then dwells in the believer and begins teaching, and if necessary, chastising him, to bring him into obedience to God's commandments; this is called baptism by the Holy Spirit and by fire and is basically a purifying process which takes place over time. The Holy Spirit also imparts one or more spiritual gifts to the believer and declares to him things to come. Blasphemy, speaking irreverently against the Holy Spirit, is the only sin which God will never forgive.
