In this week’s episode we dive back into the Bible but not the one your grandma was familiar with. Instead, we crack open the long lost gnostic manuscript of The Gospels of Thomas from the Nag Hammadi Library to explore the sayings of wisdom purportedly spoken by none other than Jesus Christ himself. While we do summarize some of the historical context behind the document we mostly discuss the esoteric meaning behind each of the gospels one hundred and fourteen thought-provoking sayings. Along the way we consider the evidence within the text that supports arguments about whether the text can be considered gnostic or not and pointing out the numerous connections to hermetic alchemy, Egyptian wisdom and cross-over content with the classical synoptic gospels. In the extended show we continue further down the list as the meaning of each saying builds atop the last and begins to paint a surprisingly lucid image of the otherwise mysterious philosophy of the ancient gnostic sects of Christianity. Thank you and enjoy the show!
