Loss Changes Us, But God Holds What’s Left

Today’s Wisdom Word: HELD

“Fear not, for I am with you… I will strengthen you, Yes,I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” — Isaiah41:10 NKJV

Loss can change more than our circumstances. It can changethe way we see our future—and sometimes even the way we see ourselves.

But loss does not mean God has let go of us.

In Day Seven of our Grief & Mourning series, weturn to Isaiah 41 and discover the beautiful progression of God's promises:

I am with you.
I am your God.
I will strengthen you.
I will help you.
I will uphold you.

And then, in Isaiah 41:13, God gives us an extraordinarypicture: He is holding our hand.

Today we're talking about grief, consequences, courage,God's mercy, and what it means to stand upon the Word of God even while we'restill hurting.

Because faith doesn't require us to pretend everything isokay.

We can grieve and still say:

It is written.

God is with me.
God will help me.
God will uphold me.
God is holding my hand.

Maybe you're not standing at the end of your story today.

Maybe you're somewhere in the middle.

Don't mistake the middle for the ending.

Come. Bring whatever you're carrying.

God Is Still Good—Even When It Hurts | Day 6:Faithfulness

What happens when the grief we're carrying was caused bychoices we didn't make?

In Day Six of our Grief & Mourning series, wedraw from Lamentations 3:22–23 and the life of Jeremiah—the “weepingprophet”—to explore grief, compassion, personal responsibility and thefar-reaching impact of our choices.

Yesterday, we remembered that Jesus wept. Today, wediscover that Jeremiah wept over Jerusalem—and generations later, Jesus weptover Jerusalem too.

Sometimes we grieve our own loss. Sometimes we grieve forsomeone we love. And sometimes we find ourselves living with consequences wenever created.

But grief doesn't have the final word.

“Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, becauseHis compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Yourfaithfulness.” — Lamentations 3:22–23 NKJV

Today's Wisdom Word is Faithfulness.

We may not have chosen what reached us, but with God's help,we can prayerfully choose what gets passed forward from us.

GRIEF & MOURNING — DAY FIVE | JESUS WEPT TOO

Today’s Wisdom Phrase: Shared Sorrow
“Jesus wept.” — John 11:35 NKJV

Jesus knew resurrection was coming—and still, He wept.

At the tomb of His friend Lazarus, Jesus did not rush pastthe pain surrounding Him. He entered it. He saw Mary weeping. He saw the sorrowof those gathered around her. And Jesus wept too.

What a beautiful reminder for those walking through grief: faithand tears can occupy the same heart.

You can trust God and still hurt.
You can believe in resurrection and still mourn.
You can have hope and still cry.

Today, we explore John 11 and discover what Jesus teaches usabout shared sorrow—the sacred ministry of simply being present withsomeone in their pain.

Sometimes love doesn’t need an explanation.

Sometimes love simply stays.

And if you are the one grieving today, remember this: Jesusunderstands tears. He is not afraid of your sorrow, and you do not have to hideit from Him.

Come. Bring whatever you’re carrying.

Our Daily Wisdom Word: Honesty

Grief can bring questions we never expected to ask.

Why, God?
Why did this happen?
Where were You?
What am I supposed to do now?
And perhaps beneath them all: God, are You still here?

Today we're talking about the freedom to bring God the heartwe actually have—the hurting heart, the confused heart, the grateful heart, andeven the heart that isn't sure what it believes.

If you're seeking, questioning, grieving, or simplywondering what is true, you don't have to manufacture certainty beforeapproaching God.

Ask Him for wisdom.

Pour out your heart.

Draw near.

Grief & Mourning — Day Three: Grief Looks Differentfor Everyone

Grief does not look the same on everyone.

One person cries. Another becomes quiet. One needs to talk.Another needs space. Some days we function almost normally—and other dayssimply getting out of bed feels difficult.

In Day Three of Drawing from the Deep Well of God’s Word,we draw from Romans 12:15: “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep withthose who weep.” (NKJV)

Today, we consider what it means to stop asking, “What iswrong with me?” and begin asking, “What hurts?”

Compassion gives us room to grieve without comparison—andteaches us to offer that same grace to others.

You can hurt and still laugh.
You can trust God and still have questions.
You can have faith and still cry.

And sometimes love doesn't need an answer.

Sometimes love simply stays.

Come. Bring whatever you're carrying.

Grief does not follow a timetable.

There is no deadline for missing someone. No schedule forwhen the tears should stop. No requirement to be “over it” because others havemoved on.

Today’s wisdom word is Permission.

Permission to grieve.
Permission to remember.
Permission to have a good day without feeling guilty.
Permission to have a difficult day when you thought you were doing better.
Permission to let God meet you exactly where you are.

We can grieve a relationship, our health, a career, a broken trust, a shattered dream, the future we imagined—or even the person we used to be.

Psalm 34:18 reminds us that “The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart.”

Today, we're not trying to fix grief. We're simply making room to acknowledge what hurts—and discovering that Jesus is already there.

We are not drawing cards to discover what God might say. We are drawing from the deep well of what God has already said.

Before we draw our first card, I want to tell you where we’re going.

Because grief has many faces, and loss comes in many forms.

When we hear the word grief, we often think immediately about the death of someone we love. And we will talk about that kind of loss.

But grief can also follow the loss of a relationship, a marriage, a friendship, a home, a career, financial security, independence, a dream, a season of life—or even something that represented safety and stability to us.

Sometimes we don't recognize what we're carrying as grief because no one died.

But something changed.

Something ended.

Something was lost.

In this special Grief & Mourning series, housed within The Grace and Peace of God — Love Wins!, we will draw from the deep well of God's Word and walk gently through the many faces of grief—without rushing it, minimizing it, or pretending it doesn't hurt.

There is room here for sorrow.

There is room here for questions.

And there is room here for hope.

Wisdom Pours Out: How to Pray for Someone Else

What if instead of only asking God to change someone'scircumstances, we began asking Him to transform the person walking throughthem?

In today's Daily Draw, we turn to Colossians 1:3–12and Paul's beautiful pattern for praying for others.

Paul teaches us to begin with thanksgiving, then pray forsomething deeper: spiritual wisdom and understanding, knowledge of God's will,a life that bears good fruit, a growing relationship with God, and strength toendure with patience, joy, and thanksgiving.

Sometimes loving someone means encouraging them.

Sometimes it means speaking truth.

Sometimes it means establishing a boundary.

And sometimes it means recognizing:

You can love someone without becoming their Holy Spirit.

Pray—and then release them into the hands of the One wholoves them even more than you do.

And what about the person who hurt you? Jesus even teachesus to pray for those who persecute us. Prayer doesn't call evil good oreliminate appropriate boundaries. It refuses to allow someone else's behaviorto determine the condition of our own heart.

Perhaps today you're praying for someone standing in themiddle of their own Damascus Road. Don't confuse who someone is today witheverything God is capable of doing in them tomorrow.

Or perhaps you're the one who needs prayer.

Come back to the Well.

Before you pour into everyone else—drink.

The water is living.
And Jesus is still inviting you:

What if something sounds spiritual—but its source isn't God?

Not everything called wisdom is wisdom. Not everythingsupernatural is holy. Not every spiritual voice deserves access to your heart.

In today's Daily Draw, we turn to Paul's letter tothe Colossians and examine the difference between biblical wisdom andcounterfeit spirituality. Paul confronted teachings involving humanphilosophy, religious regulations, ascetic practices, angel worship, and ideasthat threatened to move believers away from the sufficiency of Jesus Christ.

We'll also examine the powerful appeal of secretknowledge found in teachings such as The Secret andlaw-of-attraction spirituality.

The Gospel offers something radically different.

You don't need to discover a hidden formula for controllingyour future. God's mystery has been revealed—and it points us to JesusChrist.

Colossians tells us that in Christ are hidden “all thetreasures of wisdom and knowledge.” — Colossians 2:3 NKJV

So how do we test what we're drawing from?

Does it agree with Scripture?
What does it teach about Jesus?
Does it lead toward surrender—or control?
Does it produce humility—or spiritual superiority?
Does it make Christ greater—or make Him unnecessary?

And what fruit is it producing in your life?

The feed can carry water. But it isn't the Well.

The world offers countless wells. Jesus offers living water.

The well is deep.
The water is living.
And Jesus is still inviting you:

Come and drink.
