“It’s been said that our deepest wound is our greatest strength.” Abandonment, lack of worth, shame, guilt….Today you will hear from Sue Lundquist who was surrendered for adoption and Deidre who surrendered her child, as they discuss their emotional journey through adoption. Deidre Ashmore’s deepest wound was surrendering a baby for adoption in 1970. Today she is reunited with her in a growing, loving relationship of 16 years. This experience led her to create the Birthmothers Healing Circle, to alleviate the pain, shame, and guilt of secrecy around closed adoptions that over 1.5 million girls experienced prior to Roe vs Wade. As a minister in the field of pastoral care for 20 years, Deidre understands the value of compassion for self and others along with the importance of healing unresolved grief. Her spiritual quest has led her to a deep meditation and qigong practice in addition to playing the cello. Her personal mission statement is: “I have come here to stand and be a voice and live my life for the betterment of humanity.

Anastasia become so ill 20 years ago, she only had two good hours a day. With a demanding career as a scientist and a challenging personal life, she was unable to fulfill what she saw as her life’s calling: scientific research at the highest international level. Conventional medicine held no satisfying or workable answers. With her research skills and in depth knowledge of physics and chemistry, she studied the gamut of natural and energy medicine. The fundamental truth is that our bodies were designed to be healthy and that scientific cause and effect was at the bottom of every issue.

In June 2007, James suddently faced a catastrophic road cycling accident. The accident rendered James an incomplete quadriplegic with an uncertain prognosis of what, if any, lost function he might regain. But he willed his way back in a decade long journey, and sharing his story and insights with us. His story is personal, unfiltered and in places vulnerable. Interlaced in the story are many insights, reflections and learning’s that others facing life’s adversities may draw hope, inspiration and guidance. Of significance is the remarkable recovery he has made in the last 7 years, well beyond what modern medicine believed was a typical recovery outcome.
