Sputnick 2354 has returned to discuss a personal fave of hers, The Tom Savini remake of the George Romero classic. Not well received upon launch, it pretty much sealed Savinis fate as a director. Has time redeemed it?

It’s fitting that a movie loaded with weed jokes would end the franchise (and the March of the Leprechaun) on a high note. This is the hood leprechaun we deserve. We hope you have as much hearing us gush over this as you did our suffering over the last one.

This is the darkest timeline in the Lep series. We are in agony. Take joy in our suffering so it may not be wasted. Also we rap much better than the people in this movie and we’re terrible. so enjoy that.

Eric returns to the podcast for the March of the Leprechaun as we finish off the rest of the Leprechaun series with the sequel that wasn’t a sequel featuring a cast that weren’t all actors. enjoy!

Who can take an icon? Make it CGI? Barely show the the villain and have us all just screaming why? The Candyman (2019) can. We finish Black History Month with a return to Cabrini Green, as the Candyman refuses to be forgotten in the Nia Dacosta 2019 sequel to the original Clive Barker film. not as painful as Beloved, and not as good as the original, this falls in the middle for us. We definitely have a lot to love about it but we also have some issues.

We deal with the heaviest episode of Black History Month as we near the end. This is Oprah Winfrey’s 1998 film, Beloved, based on true events.
If you were surprised to learn Oprah made a horror, then you’re like Mike. but damn she knocked it out of the park with this. Based on the novel by Toni Morrison, this shows how severe slavery had pushed some people, to the point where their pain would not die, even after death.

We continue Black History Month with the Eddie Murphy and Angela Basset comedy Vampire in Brooklyn, written by Charlie Murphy, directed by Wes Craven, and co-starring John Witherspoon (R.I.P to all), this film was derided by critics, and reasonably so. but it has some merits that withstood the test of time and has come to a higher degree of appreciation. We also cover black depictions in horror cinema through the 40’s and 50’s. Spoiler: it’s mostly not great. But there are some shining lights that get their due.

We are celebrating Black History Month with 4 films of significance in black contribution to cinema as well as some history in each episode regarding the journey and struggles that were pivotal to its genesis and the form it takes today. Mike is joined again by Maki aka Sputnick to take the plunge into the past as we discuss the FIRST black produced horror film, the Son of Ingagi, and the life and times of its creator Spencer Williams Jr.

Mike and Rich continue to power through the winter with summer movies. Unfortunately its all the boring crap without any of the competence from the original writer. Angry Mike is in full effect.
