The Grawlix Podcast

After years of build up and a solid year of covering non-sense, nothing news stories in our weekly #SnyderWatch segment, papa Snyder and the Warner Bros. overlords has finally blessed the world with the one, true Snyder Cut. One cut to rule them all.

Okay, okay, okay. On with it. This episode we finally review Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Did it indeed suuuuuck? Did we like it? Was it an improvement on the theatrical cut? Did we rip it apart, anyway? The answer to all these questions and more… is yes. Enjoy!

For once we actually get right to the featured topic and the featured topic this episode is REACT AT THE NEWS! We cover the week’s notable TV & movie news. Wait… no Justice League talk? Originally streamed the day Zack Snyder’s Justice League dropped we opted to give ourselves time to digest that 4 hour intestinal blockage.

So, next episode we’ll dive deep into Snyder’s DC swan song. This episode, though, we discuss ANOTHER Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel that ignores the other sequels, a gender-swapped She’s All That, social distancing at the Oscars, and more. Plus, maybe a little bit of the ol’ #SnyderWatch. Enjoy!

We just can’t help ourselves, can we? This was meant to simply be an episode recapping our thoughts on Disney Marvel’s WandaVision now that the series has concluded. And we do, of course! We catch up on the final two episodes of WandaVision, talk about the series as a whole, and how the finale left us.

But wait, there’s more! Melanie and Randy have been on a bit of a movie binge! The crew all finally catch up on some notable movies like Spider-Man: Far from Home, Bill & Ted Face the Music, and Atomic Blonde. Everyone is shocked to hear Randy watched Addams Family Values for the first time ever. Plus, Nicolas Cage goes Five Nights at Freddy’s in Willy’s Wonderland, Spider-man goes southern (and angry) in The Devil All the Time, A Promising Young Woman makes good on the Black Christmas remake’s promise, and more. Enjoy!

On this episode we REACT AT THE NEWS. Our favorite old school Flash to return to TV in Stargirl season 2. Also, Stargirl is a thing. A new live-action Superman movie is in the works but not the Superman you might be expecting. Oh, and Hollywood is finally remaking a movie that SHOULD be remade and Edgar Wright is attached to direct!

Plus, the Mortal Kombat trailer broke the internet (as the kids say) and we’re all about it. We love/hate I Care A Lot and recommend Freaky. First, though, we dive into the fascinating world of gaucho pants, Groucho Marx, and more. Enjoy!

For our Valentine’s Day special live stream a week ago we celebrated the Hallmark holiday in the most romantic way we could think of…. by talking about serial killers! LIST EPISODE!

We discuss 10 killer couples in film. While a few of the expected picks are there, like Mickey and Mallory Knox from Natural Born Killers, we also tried to the outside the box of chocolatey goodness for some picks that you won’t see on other lists. Enjoy!

Once again, the Recent Viewing segment dominates the show with the focus topic being WandaVision. The G-Crew catch up on the MCU Disney+ series with their thoughts on WandaVision episodes 3 through 6.

Melanie and Randy also discuss a pair of mind-bending films. First, it’s a strong recommend for the psychological horror-thriller (comedy?) The Lighthouse, starring Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson. Then a less strong recommend for the Moorhead and Benson sci-fi thriller Synchronic.

Plus, more Cobra Kai talk, #SnyderWatch and more. Enjoy!

On this episode the Recent Viewing segment unexpectedly takes over the show. As is tradition, we’ve waited an unfashionably long time to finally review a Star Wars movie with a our thoughts on Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. We also finally get around to talking about Blumhouse’s unique take on The Invisible Man.

Randy and Melanie discover a directorial duo worth following in Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead with their mind bending, sci-fi thriller, The Endless. Jesse catches up on the final season of Vikings as well as season 2 of Amazon’s The Boys. Of course, we cram some news in there including a sci-fi western Dracula film in the works, #SnyderWatch, and…. UNO!? Enjoy!

Matty D. of the 60s Reboot Podcast joins the Grawlix Podcast crew to discuss the first two episodes of Marvel’s WandaVision series. Is the Disney+ series an interesting move within the MCU or a thin gimmack? How does it compare to the actual 50s/60s TV classics it is aping? Where is all this going? The only way we could answer such questions was with a 60s Reboot Podcast crossover episode!

We also discuss other recent viewing including Cobra Kai season 3 (and 2), the final two Phantasm movies, and more. Enjoy!

On this episode we're talking about women villains. Specifically, a TV series, a movie, and a short film featuring female antagonists. Jesse discusses one of the best Doctor Who episodes featuring the Doctor's arch nemesis in female form, Missy. Melanie tells us about Catcalls, a 2020 short film, and Randy raves about Sky High, a 2005 Disney superhero flick that took him by surprise. Enjoy!

Happy New Year! What a new year it’s been already, right? For the 2021 New Year’s episode we decided to skip the usual retrospective on the previous year, for obvious reasons. Instead, we’ve got a brand new blockbuster comic book movie AND new episode of Doctor Who to talk about.

We get far more heated during our Wonder Woman 1984 review than anyone probably expected. However, we found ourselves pleasantly surprised with Doctor Who’s Revolution of the Daleks. Plus, brief thoughts on Netflix’s Project Power, The Old Guard, and more. Enjoy!
