In this episode of The Gray Stage Podcast we discuss the suspicious deaths chapter of my book, The Gray Stage. This chapter focuses on the standard operating procedure of the Apple Valley Police Department and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. The purpose of this chapter was to document the actions of the investigators, and to get feedback from current, retired, and future law enforcement. Joining us for this month's podcast are Dan Hennen, Sophia, Stefanie and Catherine Michele. · AVPD Detective Jim Gummert was notified at 2 pm by Sgt. Greg Dhalstrom (who was the first responder) · BCA Special Agent Beth Eilers was notified by the BCA Operations Center at 2:17 pm · Jim Gummert is on-scene at 3 pm and is briefed by Greg Dhalstrom and speaks to several BCA agents. BCA Crime Scene team has not arrived yet. · Search Warrant filled out by Detective Brian Bone at 3:06 pm · First AVPD Press Release at 3:30 pm – mentions suspicious deaths. No mention of murder or suicide · At that point only Greg Dhalstrom and Adam Keeler have entered the house · Gummert assigns Detectives Tommie Booth and Brian Bone to assist the BCA processing team · Detective Sean McKnight takes exterior photos · BCA Crime Scene Team arrives – this needs to correspond with entry/exit. · Five People then enter the house. BCA Crime Scene Team Lead Joe Cooksley leads the way with BCA Special Agent Chris Olson, BCA Crime Scene Specialist Beth Wolf, Detective Tommie Booth and Detective Brian Bone. Brian Bone takes photos of crime scene. Who takes video? Beth Eilers? · The Walk-through pages 20-23 · Great Deal of blood in kitchen, living room and hallway. Human Hair and dog feces in basement. Source #29 of Suspicious Deaths chapter. · M.E. was aware hours earlier, but according to Joe Cooksley, they “waited until living room area [was] ready.” Source #30 · M.E. Dr. Jessica Lelenski and M.E. Investigator Gregg Spandl entered the house at 12 am on January 18th and were accompanied by Detective Brian Bone. Did they film anything too? They see four holes in three corpses. · #1 – Hole in what was left of David’s skull. #2 – Hole behind Raniya’s left ear. #3 & #4 – Two holes in what remained of Komel’s head. · Initial Analysis of the possible date of deaths is between December 24th, 2014 and January 17th, 2015.
