The Great Obsession

This episode is a crash course in the history of RiLee and Sam. We expose ourselves as fans of pioneer children and one direction fanfics. Which one of us is a horse girl and which one is the fairy freak?? Listen to find out.

We try to keep this ep spoiler free but if a book has been out for more than a decade you should've read it and spoilers dont count.

Sam finds many parallels to Teen Wolf fanfiction, RiLee does some creepy voice impressions, and the Omegaverse comes up for some reason. It's safe to say Ali Hazelwood really surprised us with this one...

This episode contains spoilers for Bride by Ali Hazelwood. We also forgot to share final ratings at the end, so just know we agreed later on a 7.5 / 10.

Power over spice, is power over all BITCH! Your resident Reverend Mothers (aka RiLee and Sam) have long anticipated this film and have much to say. We even manage to string together one or two intellectual thots. We discuss our experience seeing this book come to life on screen and how the film adaptation compares. This is a great episode if you are less familiar about the literary side of Dune and are curious about where this adaptation sits with the source material.

This episode contains spoilers for the films Dune part 1 and part two, as well as the entirety of the book Dune.

Girlhood, small winged ponies, a sentient house, and lots of sex made us absolutely LOVE this book. But then... world's worst trope of all time rears its ugly head. WHY, SARAH??!! We have a lot to unpack because this book contains multitudes.

This episode contains spoilers for A Court of Silver Flames (ACOSF) by Sarah J. Maas and the four books that precede it: ACOTAR, ACOMAF, ACOWAR, and ACOFAS. There are minor references made to the amount of smut in the Crescent City series, but besides that, no spoilers for any other other books by SJM.

We're hung up on the unknowable mechanics of disembodied mind sex. Among other things. There's a lot to unpack in these 263 pages! Come for a good time and stay for discussions on isolationist theory, cause apparently we're doing that too.

This episode contains spoilers for A Court of Frost and Starlight by Sarah J. Maas and all 3 books that come before it, as well as very minor spoilers for the series structure of Throne of Glass by Sarah J. Maas.

Sex noises drowning out the sound of the dead and dying?? Unhinged magic systems that make everything meaningless?? Stupid ass painting names?? This book has it ALL. Sit down, grab a good beverage and get ready to hear us unpack A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas with zero reservations. This episode contains spoilers for ACOTAR, ACOMAF and ACOWAR.

Feyre gets stuck in a mansion with some weird guy and she's pissed. Finally, a relatable main character! Though we don't understand why she loves her family when they objectively suck, and we're confused as to why she'd describe someone's eyes as "so deep blue they're violet." Welcome to our ACOTAR reread!

This episode contains spoilers for A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) only. We do NOT spoil any later books in the series, or any other books by Sarah J. Maas. We begin with a spoiler-free conversation on why this series is so popular, and the actual book discussion begins at 10:52.

We forgot to rate this one in the episode but we're giving it 8 / 10.
