One part that's been holding up a lot of our products from staying in stock is the LIS3MDL. Originally this was a $1 triple-axis magnetometer that paired well with IMU chips for making full-fusion orientation sensors. Now they're going for $20 on the gray market with an estimated ship date of 2059 (e.g. 'who knows').
Since we were out of IMU chips for a while, we were OK waiting. But now we've got some in stock and with no magnetometer shortage end in sight, we're thinking of just replacing the LIS3MDL. Especially since the magnetometer is not the most sensitive sensor in a 9-DoF (that would be the gyro). Let's identify a sensor with about +-20 gauss (+-2 mT) range, I2C interface, and affordable enough so we don't have to change our prices.
