Today’s devotional reminds us why we exchange gifts at Christmas, because they point to the greatest gift ever given. Romans 6:23 explains the sobering reality that the wages of sin is death, but it also reveals the hope of the gospel: “the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Christmas is the celebration of a gift we did not earn and did not deserve, given by God because we needed salvation. Jesus came to pay the price for our sin and make forgiveness and eternal life possible through Him.
