On today’s episode, Cathy Tolpigin and Erin Hawken, co-founder of Nourished Netherlands are thrilled to announce the Best of The Green Edit Award Winners for 2023.
Clean beauty and wellness brands were invited to submit the hero products from their range into 12 categories, which were initially tried and tested by myself, Erin and Celebrity makeup artist Laura Burns who is based in New York, but was in Sydney over summer to help us shortlist the finalist products.
Erin, Laura and I had the pleasure of testing over 130 products across 12 categories — all of which represent the very best clean beauty and wellness products. Despite an incredibly strong caliber of entries, shortlisted the top five products in each category.
For second round judging and to determine the winners of each award, finalist products were sent to an independent and highly acclaimed judging panel of influential Australian and international beauty experts and retailers including
Elena Severin from The Detox Market who have 6 stores across the USA and Canada,
Robyn Doyle founder of Beautyologie in the US,
Yvette Wyeth founder of Active Skin,
Alex Wilson founder of Heartwood based in Western Australia,
Clare McGrowdie founder of Sydney's Bond Clean Beauty store and
Elise Wilson Category Beauty Editor at Are Media Australia.

A big congratulations to the winners and thank you to all the brands who entered The Best Of The Green Edit awards this year, we absolutely loved discovering new favourite products and celebrating truly natural and ethical brands.

If you are a beauty brand looking to make aligned retail partnerships, gain knowledge about how to approach buyers and navigate knock backs and rejection, Nicci will be sharing her insights and experience with beauty brands and wellness brands.
One of the key challenges I hear from beauty and wellness brand founders across all categories including skincare, makeup, beauty injestables and wellness products is the difficulty they experience gaining the attention of beauty buyers as they aim to grow their retail distribution channels.
The Green Edit Beauty Summit is fast approaching onThursday the 16th of March and I have curated a panel of key beauty buyers from Sephora Australia, Nourished Netherlands, Clean Beauty Market and RIISE who will share valuable insights about what they look for when curating products for their stores and how your beauty brand can stand out from the rest.

In the lead up to Beauty Summit I have invited Nicci Herrera, Director of Partnerships for Retail Beauty Magazine to join us via a virtual fireside chat to share a really unique perspective about how to navigate and make aligned retail partnerships for your beauty and wellness brand.
Nicci has over 25 years experience across many aspects of the beauty industry including publishing, retail, marketing, strategy and sales. She has her finger on the pulse when it comes to the retail landscape and what really happens on the department store floor, in the pharmacy beauty aisle and in airport retail stores.
Nicci’s driving force has helped lead the next chapter of Retail Beauty to a 360-degree tool for brands to build awareness, educate the industry, secure distribution and help gain global exposure.
On this episode one of the key takeaways that Nicci shared and that beauty buyers have shared with me recently is how much they truly value meeting brand founders face to face. That they say is where the magic happens and when real partnerships are made.
They are joining the Beauty Breakfast summit as they want to connect with you and hear more about your brand and story. Which means this is the event you need to be at to make these valuable connections.
At time of recording I still have some tickets available for The Beauty Breakfast Summit. I also have 1 exhibitor space available for an aligned clean beauty or wellness brand to join us at the Beauty Brand Showcase event later that afternoon. It’s an incredible opportunity to share your brand and product range with a curated list of 80 key media, retailers and influencers.
I also wanted to share some exciting Industry news today as Qantas officially launched their new retail platform Qantas Marketplace and I am so proud to have Qantas as an event partner of The Beauty Summit and the beauty buying team will at the event, they are growing their online clean and sustainable beauty offering and are looking forward to meeting and connecting with aligned beauty brand founders - you will find them at the Qantas Coffee Cart at the summit.
Now onto our insightful fireside chat with Nicci, the audio isn’t the best, however the gold nuggets Nicci shares are so valuable and listen to the end and Ere Perez shared some great insights having been in the beauty industry for over 20 years.

Alison is one of Australia's most in-demand conscious career, business and leadership coaches and I am so thrilled to have her at The Beauty Breakfast Summit as an MC and Speaker on The 16th of March 2023.
Alison and I started recording a 5min chat, a teaser of sorts for The Meet The Summit Speaker Podcast Episode that went live recently.
However our 5 min chat soon turned into 25.
And I wanted to share our full conversation here because I know that brand founders and brand builders from all industries would get so much value from this conversation and from Alison’s conscious career space OFF.
At time of recording there are still tickets available to The Beauty Breakfast Summit and we would love for you to join us. Bring along your team or come yourself, we will both be there and we cannot wait to see you.
At the summit Alison will be setting the tone for our morning together and she will be offering some powerful words of wisdom and encouragement around the topic of what it means to build something that means something, and how to navigate feelings of fear, hopelessness and defeat.
I am a very devoted member of Alison’s conscious career space Off - and it’s within this safe, supportive and inspiring container that Alison, her colleague Lucy and I shaped and evolved The Green Edit event into the very special offering it is today.
And I wanted to create this episode and space for Alison to share in more detail her passion for supporting brand founders and brand builders and how her conscious career space off is evolving in 2023.
