This podcast has gone international!  I had the pleasure of interviewing Wendy Brown from Maine, USA, who blogs at “Surviving the Suburbs“, and is a published author of Surviving the Apocalypse in the suburbs – The Thrivalists guide to life without oil.  We had a great conversation about all the cool things she is doing to prepare for an unknown future without cheap oil.
You can find a copy of her book at New Society publishers and find out a little more about it.

I had the pleasure of interviewing Darren from green-change.com for my latest podcast.  We talk about what motivated him and his family to begin to live a sustainable lifestyle, why they moved to a larger property in Jamberoo NSW, and a great insight into raising pigs from piglet to freezer.

  • TGoG Podcast 019 – In The Navy

We all have a past that comes up every so often, and mine was 20 years of service in the Royal Australian Navy.
Yesterday, I was interviewed by my niece Ashley for a history project about war in the 20th century.  She approached me due to my service in 1990 at the start of the conflict in the Persian Gulf.
It is quite a good interview, and at the very end I try and make a point about the reason for the conflict, besides the obvious liberation of Kuwait. I could have gone a bit deeper, but I didn’t want to spoil her project!
Also, I do not glorify or promote war nor conflict.  It serves no purpose, so I just tell it how it was like at the time during this part of my life.
    Anyway, enjoy the podcast.
I certainly have had a full life so far!

  • TGoG Podcast 017 – Green Easy Listening

Well I told you that I hadn’t forgotten Episode 17.  Here is the podcast that I recorded on Tuesday 26th April, testing out some new recording software which I decided to turn into a radio show episode.

Let me know what you think.  Should I give this type of podcast a go, or is it a waste of time?

  • TGoG Podcast 018 – An Interview with Julie Grundy
This weeks podcast is an interview with Julie Grundy, who lives in Perth, Western Australia and is the author of Go Greener Australia.
I am a fan of her blog and also the G Magazine Challenges that she participates in.  During the interview we talk about her motivation to continue writing, the water security issue in Perth, the proposed Kimberly Gas terminal, and her garden!  It was a fun interview.

And if you are wondering what happened to Episode 17, well it is going to be posted when I am in hospital.  I recorded what I am calling a Green Easy Listening radio show using some new software, which Kim thinks may not be a hit, but I am willing to give any format a go to promote sustainable living.  Watch for Episode 17 soon!

  • TGoG Podcast 016 – An Interview with Jonsey (Wind-blown, dust and dirt)
I had a chat to Doug Jones this afternoon, who is the author of Wind-blown, dust and dirt.  Jonesy has had to stop blogging due to illness, which he talks a little about during the interview, but loves to read other green and sustainable living blogs.
We also talk about his area, his community, how he designed and built his passive solar house, and about his veggie patch.  Jonesy also talks about what keeps him going each day.
Thanks mate for a great interview!
Addendum: Jonesy passed away in June 2011 after a battle with cancer.  Here is my tribute post.

  • TGoG Podcast 015 – An Interview with Leanne (Hazeltree Farm)
On Thursday night, I caught up with Leanne from Hazeltree Farm which is near Dunedin in New Zealand.
We talked about sustainable farming practices, the exciting things she is doing with her tree-change, and the hazards and consequences of the property receiving unhealthy doses of Roundup(tm)!

The original recording was over an hour long, so I had to edit it down to a manageable length.  It is now just over 40 minutes, so I hope you take the time to listen to this enjoyable podcast.

  • TGoG Podcast 014 – An Interview with Sarhn McArthur
Tonight I had the pleasure of interviewing Sarhn McArthur who blogs at Greener Me.
We talked a lot about the psychology of being green and the steps she took to change her values, beliefs and every day behaviours towards a greener lifestyle.

I hope you enjoy the show as much as I did.  By the way, I am still awaiting more willing volunteers to be interviewed, so that we can keep the series going.  Send me an email if you would like to be interviewed via Skype. Otherwise I will be press ganging a few good men and women (joking of course).
