The Groove Suite Podcast

In 1995, R&B recording artist Faith Evans released an album that shook up the music game, and made it more rocky when “Soon As I Get Home” was a single. Mr. Al Pete has a dope talk with ChristinaCurates about how the song brought memories and joy to her, where she was at when it came out, and she also shares a concert story that’s pretty funny, but cool! They end the show with a conversation about the state of R&B, which has been a heavy tabloid for some months now.

Hit play and enjoy the discussion!

Mr. Al Pete and podcast Queen Jen Washington got ‘cool like dat’ during their conversation about the classic hit ‘Rebirth of Slick’ by Digable Planets! They reflected on what fashion was popular when the song was released in 1992 and discussed how their hometowns took to the song. Also, they’re reminded of the days they both played the alto saxophone…which ties into the funk of the jam (jazz baby)!

Another throwback show for you! On Mr. Al Pete’s Clear Visions Podcast, he linked up with his friend Dedrick Hicks, Jr. to talk about Jay Z’s verse on DJ Khaled’s recent album. They spoke on how dynamic and clear Hov’s verse was. They break down the lyrics and have a great discussion about Hov’s top verses, his ‘godfather’ moves in Hip Hop, and more.

…and when it comes to shows like THIS, Pete got lyrics to GO! This show focuses on the song ‘Lyrics To Go’ by A Tribe Called Quest. When we think of ATCQ’s work, ‘Lyrics To Go’ isn’t in the conversation as much as ‘Award Tour’ and ‘Electric Relaxation’ is, but Mr. Al Pete stresses his love for the rocker!

Pete analyzes the Minnie Rippleton sample and how Q-Tip turned the harmonic clip into a Hip Hop banger. He gives some history behind the song, album, and the classic cover. Lastly, he discovers that it was a remix to the song, which you can hear on the show.

It’s The Groove Suite podcast! We’re keeping it coming!

Mr. Al Pete tosses his music in the collection of songs he’s raving for the month of October. ‘Interlude’ comes from his recent album B.A.B.N. and its 2-year anniversary comes mid month!

Pete relives the moment he heard the production and shares his reaction to it. He goes deeper into what influenced the rhymes and where that inspiration came from.

Third times a charm, as they would say…and this song has 3 people on it *heehee*! Today, Mr. Al Pete talks about the jam ‘Daytona 500’ by Ghostface Killah. When the song was released in 1996, it was ahead of its time…to the point where it sounds like it could have been released some months ago. It also reminds him of Griselda…spooky, right?!

Pete speaks on how the song was sampled from Bob James song ‘Nautilus’ and shared some history behind that. He also gives some fun facts about the Daytona 500’s music video and how he loves the Speed Racer cartoon that complimented the visuals. Lastly, he reflects on how him and his friends ‘sampled’ it for a step show!

Enjoy the episode!
