I knew there must be more to life but I didn’t know what so I studied for a law degree whilst working full time. Once I’d graduated, I still didn’t feel like I was on the right path so I tried several other corporate career positions, working crazy 80 hour weeks. Everyone said I was lucky to be earning so much money and to have ‘fallen on my feet’ but I didn’t feel lucky."

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak backs tech start-up Velapp which allows live editing of video. Scott speaks to the young entrepreneur, David de Min, aimed to emulate his idol after attracting the attention of the co-founder of Apple, Steve Wozniak, the man who launched the world’s biggest company with Steve Jobs in 1976.

Before he went on stage, the tech guru spent half an hour with Mr de Min talking about his app, which allows users to select points of interest in videos when filming long clips – like when waiting for a baby to take its first steps. Mr de Min has been developing the app for the last year and has attracted £100,000 of investment so far, including a £25,000 interest-free loan from Kent County Council. He has also filed for an international patent. Jason speaks to him about his founder journey and lessons learned along the way- listen to hear it all now.

Scott Speaks to FOUNDER& NON EXEC DIRECTOR, Peter Ibbetson. Peter Ibbetson is a banker turned entrepreneur. From being Head of Business Banking at NatWest (before it all went wrong!), he built a portfolio of directorships helping businesses grow. He then took the leap into entrepreneurship and created JournoLink, a disruptor business providing a PR platform linking businesses to journalists. Ever since the battle of David and Goliath, the small have been looking for metaphorical stones to outdo bigger rivals – much like SMEs trying to find a competitive advantage through transparency, quality customer service and the ability to foster relationships.

JournoLink would be classified as one such stone, having been created on the basis that small businesses would love to get media coverage but don’t have the know how or budget to do so.

At the same time, the concept revolves around journalists that want to find entrepreneurial business stories and spokespeople, yet struggle to find them.

But the truly clever part is that JournoLink analyses which press releases should be sent to which journalists, so that they are properly targeted at those who genuinely have an interest in them.
