  • 39 The Fun Of Make-Up, With Celia Burton

We feel so lucky at The Guinea Pig that we were able to record a few episodes in advance, before the world had to isolate.

Today's episode is pure escapism as we hear from make-up artist Celia Burton who dropped into the clinic a few weeks ago, with her extensive cosmetic kit and did a step-by-step make-up tutorial on Fiona's face.

We hear about some wonderful products which can create a natural, dewy base - which you can then just leave, or add blush, eye colour and lips.

We also get some advice about how to get the perfect brow, plus Maryam has news of a new product to help lashes grow.

On a side note, in these incredibly challenging times, the team at The Guinea Pig would like to send love to all of our listeners (and non-listeners) and hope you are all keeping safe and well.

We'll be back next week, but in the meantime take care.

Maryam, Fiona, Amanda, Polly & Nicola

  • 38 Katie Piper

Today in the clinic Maryam and Fiona welcome a very special guest in the form of the wonderful presenter, model and campaigner, Katie Piper!

Katie has endured hundreds of surgeries as a result of an acid attack 12 years ago, which could have robbed her of confidence to participate in public life - and for a while it did - but ultimately her incredible, inner spirit wouldn't allow that side to win through.

Not only do we hear about some of the procedures Katie has had to re-build her face and body, but we hear about her journey with beauty and her love of products and make-up which has never relented, plus some of the tweakments she has found to have amazing results.

This is a truly inspirational listen and will lift anyone's spirits - which we could all do with right now... ENJOY!

  • 32 The Ultimate Facial with Joanne Evans

In this week's episode, not only do we find our hosts in someone else's clinic, but the roles are reversed as Maryam takes the role of The Guinea Pig!

Yes Fiona has done the unthinkable and let Maryam sit-back and relax as Joanne Evans at Skin Matters works her magic - resulting in perhaps the first time a host has fallen asleep mid-podcast?

This episode is an education in so many ways; as we hear about how we can deal with complaints such as melasma, pigmentation and acne.

We also hear how facials have moved-on from the standard steam clean to embrace science and gadgets, why active skincare is the most effective, which ingredients are a MUST in any skincare routine and also why are young people suffering more with facial hair than ever before?

We also learn that a bad skincare regimen can render many facial tweakments as useless!

  • 30 Is 'Clean' Beauty All It's Cracked-Up To Be? With Nicola Moulton

As we are now well-into the new decade, are we in the 'future' when it comes to beauty - or is a trend for 'clean' products taking us back the the dark ages?

Beauty editor Nicola Moulton joins Fiona and Maryam in the clinic to discuss and dissect the trend for clean beauty and if in a more polluted world all 'natural' ingredients will cut-the-mustard?

Why can anything that admits to being scientific or pharmaceutical be deemed by some as 'bad' - whilst products with next to no research or testing might be seen as 'good'?

Which ingredients are the real ones to avoid and which ones are just getting a bad press?

This discussion will blow a few preconceived ideas out of the water, whilst also giving a look at where beauty trends are headed over the coming months and which products should be on everyone's dressing table.
