Turning to the Olivet discourse, the timing markers in Matthew 24:29-31 seem pretty clear. How do the preterists take this passage? Would the modern Post Millennialist take the same view?
There are a variety of different ways people take this passage 1. Jesus is only coming in judgment “seen” by those in Jerusalem at 70 AD. 2. Jesus is seated at the right hand of God after his ascension. Then the angels who go out to gather the elect are the saints evangelizing the world until his Return.
What are some of the exegetical problems with this view?
Without looking at the text, these ideas can sound good. But what is Jesus saying in the Olivet discourse? Is it possible for us to understand the words recorded for us? Or do we need to look outside the Bible for answers?
