Pharmacology can be challenging. The names of the drugs can be hard to learn about and differentiate. As a dental hygienist, it is important to understand how the medications your patient is taking interact with the body and how chronic diseases are managed with drugs.

Join me in this conversation with my 12-year-old daughter Autumn. She came home from school and told me she was tasked with a project in her health class. I was thrilled to hear she decided to write a comic book on oral health.
Autumn has always amazed me! This conversation is just a
small example of how she teaches me something every day. I thought it would be a great opportunity for her to share what she has learned about oral health. Never underestimate the power of a pre-teen!

I have been recording podcast episodes for over four years. I have never shared the "Why" behind why I spend the time on the podcast week after week. It is a labor of love to do it. I sometimes wonder if it is worth the effort and if students are truly benefiting from the content.
The truth is, I value the information and the content. I feel as though if it helps anyone - it is worthy of my time and energy.
I will also say that it is scary to share failures and setbacks with others without developing a bit of fear. I believe that we have more in common that we realize. We are guilty of assuming that others have an easier path or a smoother journey to achieve their goals. At this point in my life, I am willing to share the journey without fear of judgement for the sake of showing others that we all fail. We all face challenges. We all have setbacks and have to figure out how to develop resilience and a bit of grit.

Taking radiographs is a challenging skill to learn and develop. Understanding all the complexities of what you see on those radiographs is a whole different skill to learn. Part of your journey will involve radiographic interpretation of the beautiful radiographs you take on your patient.

We all walk our own journey to reach our goals and become the best versions of ourselves. While I was at RDH Evolution, I met Maddison Dailey "Maddy". I was immediately drawn to get to know Maddy. She is a ray of sunshine.
Maddy shares the many twists and turns in her journey to become a dental hygienist. I was so impressed to see how resilient she is and how she has grown through every experience. Each set back on her journey has become a set up to move her forward.
