It is almost hard to imagine a time where the benefits of fluoride were unknown. It is important to gain perspective on how the understanding of the benefits of fluoride evolved and developed. As part of your learning journey, take the time to understand the history of why it is we do what we do. The pursuit of knowledge and understanding opens doors for innovation and progress in our profession. History helps us to understand the story and move ahead in the right direction.

One of the most important things you can do for yourself is to start off your clinical career learning proper ergonomics and patient/operator positioning. There are specific positions that clinicians need to consider when working in the clinical setting to maintain good ergonomics while providing patient care. Having foundational skills of proper operator and patient positioning ensures the clinician that they will be able to provide care in a way that meets the needs of the patient and the clinician.
