Thankfulness is a choice, not based on circumstances but on the condition of our hearts. If we're only thankful in favorable circumstances, we can easily miss out on the power of God in our lives. In this new series called Give Thanks we'll be using Psalm 136 as a foundation to see how we can be thankful in every circumstance and how it can practically affect our daily lives. In this first message Senior Pastor Jeff Maness teaches that God’s goodness is not based on our circumstances; it’s based on His character, and asks, "What parts of God’s character make Him good?"

Have you ever read a passage in the Bible and scratched your head thinking, "How does that work out in my life?" Maybe it's a passage that makes you wonder, "Could that really happen in real life...in my life? But how?" In the last message of the My Favorite Passage series, Director of LIFT Chris Ward shares his favorite passage, Acts 2:42-47, in a message entitled, "Our Family Photo". Chris says he believes this is one of the Bible's most crucial passages that can inspire, challenge, and provide practical everyday principles for everyone in our Church family.

From a very young age, we are programmed to work, manage, and achieve, so it's no surprise how difficult it is to just stop and be still, with no distractions, for any length of time. But this is what we need to do if we are to know God.

In this message from the My Favorite Passage series, Community Care Pastor David Miller talks about his favorite passage, Psalm 46:1-3, 10.

"God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear when earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. Let the oceans roar and foam. Let the mountains tremble as the waters surge!...Be still and know that I am God!"

David explains that it's easy to know about God through attending church, listening to sermons, reading books about Him, and talking to other people who know Him. But to know God for ourselves, we need to have intimate time with Him alone. We need to be still, to quietly sit in His presence and wait for Him to speak.  Listen to "Be Still and Know" for more information on how to do that and the rewards it will bring!

Special guest speaker Rickey Bolden joins us to talk about his favorite passage, the story of Enoch in Genesis 5:21-24 and Hebrews 11:5-6. The biblical accounts of Enoch tell us that he faithfully walked with God for 300 years of his life. In fact, God enjoyed Enoch's company so much that when it was time for Enoch to die, he didn't! God just took him straight to heaven! Listen as Rickey illustrates how to walk with God faithfully and daily as Enoch did.

In this message, Teaching Pastor Weston Savell talks about his favorite passage, John 3:30, where John the Baptist said, "He (Jesus) must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less."

Weston taught how this passage shows that things of the heart matter most. If the heart doesn't change, there's no real change. Watch and see what it says about your self-worth, your worth to God, and what John the Baptist really meant.

In John 17:20-23 Jesus prayed, "I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as you and I are one—as you are in me, Father, and I am in you. And may they be in us so that the world will believe you sent me. I have given them the glory you gave me, so they may be one as we are one. I am in them and you are in me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that you sent me and that you love them as much as you love me."

If Jesus prayed for our unity, then we should make unity our priority. But how do we do this? Watch this message and see.

In God's story, each person has a part to play, and like the pieces of a puzzle, each person's part matters to the big picture. Do you see yourself playing a part in this story? Do you really believe that God wants to use you to play a part in His story? Watch the message "Characters" by Teaching Pastor Weston Savell to find out why the part you play is essential to God's overall story.
