The Harbor

Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone.” —Genesis 2:18

This is the only place where God said something in His creation was not good. We were designed to live with others in community. You can survive without being in community, but you’ll struggle to have the strength you need. What kind community provides the strength that we need? Watch this message by Senior Pastor Jeff Maness to find out!

Every good story has a hero. In most stories, the hero is a flawed human who goes through trials of his own as he beats the bad guy. Our hero is Jesus. But it's not what He did, it’s who Jesus is that makes Him the hero of our story.

Watch "Hero", the second message of our It's A Page-Turner series, to find out what you should know about who Jesus is.

This is a very special message, one that should not be missed by anyone who has ever attended The Harbor or Friendswood Community Church. In the first part, our founding and senior pastor for the past almost 25 years talks about the first quarter century of The Harbor, how it began, the people who came alongside, and the growth engines that have helped so many come to know Jesus or know Him better.

In the second part of this message, Rick's successor as senior pastor, Jeff Maness, talks about the qualities that make Rick such an amazing example of Christ: humility, unconditional love, and grace. Finally, the church board and congregation shower Rick and Marie with prayer as they head off to their new chapter in retirement. It was a Sunday we will never forget!

Our last core value says: Eternity Is Now - Eternal life is not something we receive when we die; it’s something we choose to live in today, and those who believe in and follow Jesus will live with Him forever. For the believer that is beyond exciting! But what does eternal life provide for us today? Watch to see as Co-Senior Pastor Jeff Maness teaches the last message of our What We Bleed series.

God always wants what is best for us. Unfortunately, we don't always do what is best for ourselves. This week's core value says: Health Requires Hard Work - Followers of Jesus must work hard to carefully nurture their own spiritual, emotional, relational, physical, and financial health. Watch as Teaching Pastor Weston Savell shows us how to get back on track and develop a deeper relationship with our Father at the same time.

We continue our What We Bleed series with another of the most important Core Values at The Harbor: "Prayer is Our Priority - The work of the church is first and foremost prayer, by which all other work is led, empowered, and supported". God longs to have a relationship with each person. He wants to talk with you, to lead you, to empower and support you to be all that He has created you to be! Listen to hear how prayer has changed lives!

This is Founding and Co-Senior Pastor Rick Baldwin's last full message at The Harbor.

It is God's plan that those who follow Christ serve one another. Jesus told His disciples, "For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many." (Mark 10:45) Everyone has a part to play. And so one of our Core Values at The Harbor is, "Serving Matters - Followers of Jesus should serve in areas that use their God-given gifts to strengthen and build up the Church and others."

In this message, "Serving Matters", Co-Senior Pastor Jeff Maness shows that it takes all of us working together, using the gifts God has given us, to do the work of the Church. We each have a part to play and work to do for the kingdom.

Thank you to all who serve at The Harbor!

In this message Teaching Pastor Weston Savell teaches about one of, if not the most important ingredient for the Christian life. It is the Bible. Our core value says, "Built on the Bible - The Bible, God’s revealed Truth, without fault or error in everything it teaches, is the foundation and final authority for all that the Church and follower of Jesus does." With prayer, this core value drives us. It is the fuel by which we do life as believers, and we do faith as a church. Watch to see how valuable the Bible is (or can be) in your life.

At The Harbor we believe that "Followers of Jesus should be effective and efficient stewards of all God gives them, understanding that He owns it all." In short, "We Are Managers, Not Owners" of everything we have. In this message, Co-Senior Pastor Rick Baldwin teaches how this attitude not only honors God, but relieves stress from our lives and allows us to participate more freely in what God is doing around us.
