  • Hard Rock Lunch Box: #262 [09/06/2018] Music from Nothing More, REVEL 9, Fear The Masses, Red Handed Denial, Slipknot, Tempest City, Alpha Zero Three, Craving Strange and MORE!

This week on the BOX...  the State of the REVEL Record.

DJ talks about the "slower than he wanted" progress of the R9 record, but takes 50-90% of the blame for it.  He talks about the importance of taking the time to do things "right" and laments that more bands around here can't, don't and/or won't do that.  He's also guessing that we're looking at a Spring 2019 release, and that's just too far from now.

He talks about how awful the "What's Going On" segment is on his local News12 and how not only do they NOT cover stuff that would be important to a lot of people they are trying to reach, even when they DO cover something of interest, they get it wrong or incomplete anyway.  And also no one cares that you're at Puff Diddy-Dickwad's Hamptons party.  Try and remember that you'd never be invited there if you weren't "the news" <- and we can't "quote" that enough.

Upcoming show information, Andy has superpowers, "F*" the Supreme Court and MORE!

     This ain't your mom's lunchbox.

  • Hard Rock Lunch Box: #261 [08/30/2018] Music from Protest the Hero, Crash Transit, Sweet Tooth, Know Your Enemy, Last Turn off Broadway, Dance Gavin Dance, Suicidal Tendencies, Craving Strange and MORE!

This week on the BOX...  Talking politics ...kinda.

DJ talks about the loss of "respect".  In the country, in the sandbox and just in general.  He talks about the qualities that, he thinks, make for better people and the general discourse.  But he also thinks most people are idiots, so it's kinda the same show as usual!

He talks about the arts and crafts tornado that is his daughter's best friend, how Jimmy G is in too many bands to appropriately pick a Weekly Craving of the Week and why the world "liberal" doesn't mean what you think it means.

Upcoming show information, Andy's classical learning, "Merry Christmas" and MORE!

  • Hard Rock Lunch Box: #260 [08/23/2018] Music from Jane's Addiction, Crash Transit, Maybe Later, Danger Club, Makeshift, Jackknife Stiletto, Sam Pollet, Jimmy's Blue Notebook and MORE!

This week on the BOX...  No one's order at Starbucks is safe!

DJ offers a formal, 18-minute-long apology (with an asterisk) to Mr. "FORHERE" for swiping his egg-thing this morning.  He does however manage to blame the Starbucks employees for poorly grouping orders at the mobile order station, and definitely faults "Brenda" for being a typical lazyass, entitled and in-the-way white chick and is pretty sure the world, let alone his mobile order, would have been better off if she had just decided to never have been born.

Also, DJ is full-on paleo, and would consider eating a caveman under the right circumstances, has a bunch of REVEL 9 updates and got his ass kicked at HERricane practice last night.

Upcoming show information, Andy's last-minute, phoned-in, Learning report, a suckle of my zipple and MORE!

  • Hard Rock Lunch Box: #259 [08/16/2018] Music from Know Your Enemy, Pine Street, Tempest City, Crash Transit, Dino Skatepark, This Crooked Home, All New Episode, Last Turn Off Broadway and MORE!

This week on the BOX...  DJ is all about NUTUYU... Still.

He goes through the successes of NUTUYU 6, while still feeling somewhat disenchanted with the whole thing, but still discusses possibilities for NUTUYU 7 as well as the last-minute show add for REVEL 9.

We get a HERricanes update as well as a review of the awful August weather thus far.  DJ discusses how childish it is to aggressively up and "unfriend" and actual "friend" on facebook and how sometimes an online sale can be SO good, that he's tempted to buy something he already has!  #dope

Upcoming show information, Andy's slightly-used learning report, *NSYNC mashups and MORE!

  • Hard Rock Lunch Box: #258 [08/09/2018] Music from Know Your Enemy, Pralaya, Tempest City, Pathmaker, MeMyOwnSelf, Dino Skatepark, Boxer, Aron Street, Craving Strange, Alpha Zero Three and MORE!

This week on the BOX...  DJ is back at the BOX.

DJ is back to normal BOX-duty and has stories from vacation... but never gets to them.

He has, however, figured out the secret to stop eating something delicious, seems to have an endless amount to say about NUTUYU 6 and has weird information about scotch-guarded vans! (Courtesy of Dylan from DSP).  He gets #livesentence with Producer Dan off to a rocky start, takes some chair inventory and handles everything else that's been "poppin'" the last couple of weeks.

This week on the BOX...  DJ sucks at the BOX.  -wait...

DJ thinks he's probably a horrible employee as far as the radio station goes, but still digs doing the BOX. He can't find ANY time to make meetings at the station or help make the brand bigger - the BOX or REVEL 9 - and wants to do more, but just can't seem to.

He's worrying more and more about his health and gets into the details of the latest pains and paths forward.  He schools the BOX on the legacy that lack of local interest is going to have on R9 and all R9-related projects here at home, but tries to figure out if there is indeed a difference between accepting that the crowds "just aren't into you" and being a complete douche whining and bitching on social media about the "support" you aren't getting.

Plus.. Andy is wayyyyy effin' high this week!!

  • Hard Rock Lunch Box: #255 [07/12/2018] Music from Broadside, Makeshift, Thief Club, The Muckrakers, Last Turn Off Broadway, Bullet For My Valentine, Craving Strange, Dino Skatepark and MORE!

This week on the BOX...  DJ is kinda "meh".

Despite having "nothing to talk about" he manages to school the BOX on when it's appropriate to have a birthday party, and as it turns out, it's not ok for an adult, pretty much ever.  And for the love of GOD, please stop having birthday "weeks" and "weekends".  It's ridiculous; grow up already.  Try doing something worthy of a celebration besides spin around the Sun.  Most people can NOT die every year.  I've done it.  Most of us have. A lot.  So, stop.

Also, if you're having trouble finding and keeping band members ask yourself this:  Am i looking for someone that needs to make a large sacrifice because we tour and play a LOT of shows and practice several times a week and constantly develop content and promote our scene...?  Or am I just kinda locally based and spend a lot of time believing my own hype, but all i really need is someone to play a few shows a year, because i'm not actually DOING anything...?  If it's the latter, you're the problem.  Buy a mirror.  You're welcome.

Plus.. Andy's back and lots more fun stuff to check out.  Sure, let's go with that!

  • Hard Rock Lunch Box: #254 [07/05/2018] Music from Bullet For My Valentine, Craving Strange, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Times Like These, Makeshift, The Wonder Years, Dino Skatepark and MORE!

This week on the BOX...  DJ is fumbling towards enlightenment.  Kinda.

He talks about how people, especially family members, can really work you over good, especially if you aren't paying attention or don't even know what to look for.  He discusses his theories on selfish behavior in adults and how sometimes it can just be too late to ever put yourself second once you've already decided that you're the most important thing in any equation.  He believes that Onion Dip is effing awesome - and he's right - and how the world's problems could be solved just by picking up another pint of sour cream.  Well, at least if you're a kid.

He teases LTOB news, makes fun of Dino Skatepark's new song title (and most Long Island town names) and vaguebitches about "behind the scenes nonsense" regarding Saturday's show but promises to tell you all about it next week!  It's all love, sorta.

  • Hard Rock Lunch Box: #253 [06/28/2018] Music from Mayday Parade, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Danger Club, One Last Embrace, Jimmy's Blue Notebook, Dead Sara and MORE!

This week on the BOX...  DJ is taking a break from jousting at windmills... hopefully.

He talks about how simple any diet is, really, if you're currently messing up something fundamental.  So his new "diet" of trying to not argue absolutely every single thing that he sees as "wrong in the world" should be a piece of cake, right? Ha!  He also warns bands that they need to stop believing their own hype and sucking their own asses, because "great stuff" doesn't come from bands that just think they're great; it comes from bands that actually are.  Also, he's not going to GSB and if you're going, just to "support local talent", you're missing the mark -by a LOT!  So... all-around a super pleasant time on the box!

  • Hard Rock Lunch Box: #252 [06/21/2018] Music from Wage War, Maybe Later, Dance Gavin Dance, Against Me!, This Crooked Home, Deftones, Craving Strange, Times Like These and MORE!

This week on the BOX...  DJ is annoyed by the small-mindedness of people.

He talks about how evolving an idea is how intelligent people work and how people that argue something without facts, and believe something simply because they refuse to listen to an opposing point of view, are the ones that will doom the human race to fail.  He wants to know where integrity and compassion have gone, and why he keeps seeing Irish surnames next to anti-immigrant posts on FB.  He also points out that the attendance at the last NUTUYU show was poor, if not downright "bleak", but is quick to point out that it was probably the all-around best of the NUTUYU events so far and the losers really are the ones that missed it.  He wonders if people aren't willing to put in the effort, what shows are even worth the trouble anymore, why dairy can mess with your backing vocals and how he got brown "stuff" all over his hand the other night.

About The Hard Rock Lunch Box

From the publisher's feed

From the mind (and iPod) of one DJ Pearlman (from the band, REVEL 9) comes HARD ROCK (and MORE!) from all over the place with a couple of surprises thrown in.
