The HEA Book Club: Reading Romance with Friends

Announcement!! Stolen to Fight by Summer is now available on Amazon and free on Kindle Unlimited–all March proceeds will be donated to survivors.

Listen in this week to a very important episode focused on books from the Reading for RAINN movement. Our guest, Kimiya @kttreads, has been organizing the involvement of a multitude of authors. As she stated in the episode, “It is so good to see the community come together and change the narrative to shift the focus from something bad to something good. It is so valuable and heartwarming.”

Throughout this episode we’ve come out with a new tagline for dark romance: “a safe space to heal and gain power back over your life”, talked about Batman/Joker fanfic, and got into a good discussion on the hottest things you can read about in these romance books.

Welcome back to the HEA Book Club! In this episode we have guest Meghan, best known as @otherworldofmyown. Focusing on the rich rich rich men of the romance world we turn our attention to billionaire romances this week. It seems that there is a direct correlation between the hotter someone is and the more money they have in these fictitious universes.

This week Summer read Ruthless Creatures, Kelsey read Terms and Conditions, and Megan read the Filthy Rich American Series. Listen in for a conversation on relationship expectations, age gaps and wage gaps along with a high key overview of various tropes.

These books were as steamy as they were wealthy this week. Step into a world unlike most as we all got whisked away on a billionaire romance carpet ride and potentially scar Kelsey for life!

Potentially the start of a new series, Summer and Kelsey get together and talk over the books they’ve been reading between our episodes. Kelsey gets sucked into the Kindle Unlimited book store while Summer gets swept up in the newest craze on Booktok.

This episode is filled with some of our favorite romance authors: Meghan Quinn, Amy Daws, Sophie Lark, and Emily McIntire. Summer is working her way through the audio recording of Blindsided which made Kelsey squeal with delight. Blindsided is one of Kelsey’s favorite books so it is about time that Summer has gotten around to listening to it. There were many incomprehensible, excited noises when topics of sexy footballer Mac and relatable Freya came up.

Listen in for cute anecdotes of Summer’s dog walks of the week and Kelsey wearing Summer down to start reading Rom coms with her!

In this episode of The HEA Book Club we dive into disability representation in smut. We meet some of the bravest characters we’ve read yet who live with autism, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, social anxiety, and fluency disorders.

Summer reads It Ain’t me Babe by Tillie Cole, Kelsey reads Get a Life, Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert and our guest Kristie from @read_between.the_wines read Good Guys Don’t Lie by Micalea Smeltzer.

Summer and Kelsey get an in depth explanation of the Omegaverse from Kristie while Kelsey talks about the bittersweet impact reading about a character she so deeply related to had on her.

The episode wraps up with swoon worthy romance moments and the power that queen bees hold in their hives. We’ve decided that the queen bees' lives sound like something out of a romance reverse harem…And maybe gladiators too??

Ep 6: Masked Men and Sexting Besties | Smutty Novella Series

In this episode of The HEA Book Club, we discuss two series of short, spicy reads. A bit of a hot mess, we bounce from Spy Kids to whether or not you can get pregnant in hot tubs to songs that inspired Summer’s books.

Summer reads The Holiday Masked Men Series by Molly Doyle, a seasonal series with darker themes and sex scenes on every other page. Kelsey reads the Steamy Coffee Collection by Whitney G that had stellar character arcs and lots of “romance reasons”.

Overall, these books were beautifully written and perfectly paced. The perfect things for a bath time or coffee read.

Summer has updated her site with new signed paperbacks in the shop along with her upcoming release’s Spotify playlist.
