Kim Guerra is the Founder and CEO of the Brown Bad Ass Bonita where she uses art as a way of healing and celebrating her cultura. Her t-shirt designs went viral and just within a year, The Brown Bad Ass Bonita Community has reached a following 13k people. What most people don’t know is the story behind the brand. Born and raised in a predominately Latino community in the San Fernando Valley, Kim was all too familiar with abuse, poverty, fear of deportation, trauma and systemic oppression. These factors influenced her choice to study human development on a full ride to Cornell University. Since graduating the Ivy League, Kim moved to Seattle where she experienced serve culture shock and racisim. Today Kim wants to be an instrument of healing and empowerment for my Latinx communities in a way that respect, honors, and celebrates the Latinx culture rather than pathologizing it.
