You’re in for a treat today, because I felt an urging to revisit today one of my favorite episodes from this year. Do you have something burning inside of you that you feel like the Lord has given you to do? Does it feel completely terrifying, yet also like something you can’t ignore?

You’re in good company with Mary, who carried in her God’s promise: the birthing Jesus, The Light of the World! The Angel said to Mary: “Do Not Be Afraid!”

So I ask you: What would you do if you had no fear?

The Thing that God has put inside of you to do or to start or to create or to sing or to write - it feels like jumping off of a cliff. It feels terrifying and also a little bit exciting. 

This episode was originally released earlier this year, but the message couldn’t be more timely:

Are you afraid of doing the thing burning in your heart from the Lord? The good news is that you carry the Light of the World inside of you. This Christmas season, every time you see a string of lights, or the stars out in the sky tonight, or hold a candle during a Christmas Eve service, remember WHO lives inside of you! Remember who’s power is living in you to see his Word fulfillled!

I urge you this Christmas season to STEP OUT and allow God to enable you to do thing he has called you to do!

I want to highlight something that I believe is naturally in us from birth that we may have forgotten as musicians. And that is:

SINGERS ARE CREATORS

We are born with ideas, curiosity, and the ability to think of a melody and speak it forth - to sing it forth.

I believe we were created, yes, for singing beautiful music composed by others, but even beyond that, I believe we can use our classically trained voices for expression and new sound creation. I believe we have melodies, words, and concepts we are meant to share, sing and declare over people and into the world.
