Welcome to my brand new podcast, The Heart Speaks. This is going to be a curation of interviews with brilliant philosophers, artists, writers and academics who have made a profound impact in the world around us. Discover great insights from the world of art, creativity, philosophy and culture with unbridled perspectives from the world’s sharpest minds.
Now for this first episode, I sit down with Scott Barry Kaufman, a humanist psychologist and author of the book, ‘Transcend: The Science of Self Actualization.’ In this episode, we discuss what each of us needs in life to operate from what Scott calls the Being mode. It’s a mode where we feel free and unburdened by our anxieties and insecurities and it’s a kind of existence where we’re not projecting those insecurities onto others. We talk about the challenge of psychological entropy and what happens when we as humans act from a place of deficiency and a place of scarcity, and Scott gives us some tools we can use to overcome those states when we find ourselves falling into despair.
Enjoy the episode!
