The Heavy Hitter DJs Podcast

DJ Steph Cakes, Power 105.1's Late Night Snack and the first female DJ repping Yonkers on a major NYC station, pulls up to The Heavy Hitter DJs Podcast.

Steph sits with L. Boogs, DJ Enuff, DJ Camilo, and DJ Kast One to break down her whole come-up: LimeWire mixtapes, faking a school letter to intern twice at Power 105, running errands for Angie Martinez, leaving AT&T for the DJ life, and learning the fundamentals from DJ Bones. She also gets into her first big gig at Cliff (and the night she left her laptop there), being a female DJ in uptown, the years-long Heavy Hitter courtship from Camilo and Pretty Lou, her flag football league, gaming streams, and the legend of "Caramel Dropa."

Some DJs chase the culture. DJ Kast One was born in it.

This week the Heavy Hitters break down Kast One’s journey from growing up blocks away from where hip hop was born to finding his place beside DJ Enuff at Hot 97. From graffiti and backwards DJ setups to college radio, crate carrying, and Gleason’s nights in the Bronx, the crew tells the real story of how friendship, opportunity, and hip hop changed everything.

Bronx roots. Hot 97 nights. Heavy Hitters history.

The story doesn't stop at the origin… this is legacy in real time.

This week two more Heavy Hitters tap in with DJ Lonnie B and Aliyah the DJ – a father-daughter duo proving the culture don’t just grow… it gets passed down. From mixtapes and radio runs to TikTok crowds and 15-second attention spans, it’s two generations playing the same game with different rules.

They talk global DJ life, adapting to new crowds, and what it really means to build your own name, even when the legacy already hits different.

Same roots. New wave. Heavy Hitters for real.

The Heavy Hitters step into the podcast world for the first time — and they’re not easing in.

In Episode 1, DJ Enuff, DJ Camilo, DJ Kast One, and L. Boogs break down the origin of one of the most influential DJ collectives in the world. From Bronx parties and Hot 97 to global stages in Japan, Thailand, and beyond, this is the story of how a crew became a movement.

They talk about the early days, the grind it took to get in, the evolution of DJ culture, and what it really means to be a Heavy Hitter — beyond music. From mentorship and business to brotherhood and global reach, this episode sets the foundation for everything to come.

If you’ve ever wondered how DJs build empires, how crews stay relevant for decades, or what it takes to stand out in a crowded game… this is where it starts.
