Check out what's coming up in this short update and preview of what to expect for Season 5. This season will be all about exploring the topic of MOTIVATION through the lens of the 16 Types system of personality.
S4E12 - In this season finale, we take a look at the overarching patterns that emerged as we looked at the intersection of the Enneagram and emotional intelligence. We also look at the wisdom of the nine guests who are doing deep inner work with their Enneagram-related patterns.
The podcast will be on a short break before Season 5 (focused on the 16 Types system) launches in a few weeks.
S4E11 - Hear from Scott Allender, the author of The Enneagram of Emotional Intelligence. We discuss Scott's Enneagram type (SP3), how doing inner work can change the dynamic in relationships, and the role the body plays in identifying and understanding your emotions and becoming more emotionally intelligent. Scott shares the five aspects of emotional intelligence he uses with clients and how they compare to the four quadrants we've discussed this season (self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and social management).
S4E10 - In the final interview of the series of head-type interviews, you'll meet Mark, a Social 7. With the backdrop of Emotional Intelligence, we discuss the Type 7's avoidance of pain, the pursuit of joy (yet settling for happiness), and his gluttony for experiences. Mark shares a distinction between being present and being with the immediate and how this has helped him work with some of his Enneagram-related patterns.
S4E9 - You’ll meet Tisha (SX6) in this episode which continues a series of interviews exploring the intersection of the Enneagram and Emotional Intelligence. Tisha describes how her need to know, understand, and have clarity caused her to create a lot of fear-based stories about her relationships until she discovered the power of curiosity, asking questions, and holding space for the possibility that she may not know what's really going on. She also describes how learning to allow all of her own emotions allowed her to be with others during all of their emotions, too.
S4E8 - You’ll meet Ivy (Type 5) in this episode which continues a series of interviews exploring the intersection of the Enneagram and Emotional Intelligence. Ivy and I talk about paying attention to her emotions and her work with accepting and actually feeling them. She also shares her relationship and connection to her body sensations as she uses the fear she feels in the interview to connect to the body sensations it evokes. Ivy also shares something she thinks is very important to know about Type 5s and that she sees as a big misconception.
S4E7 - You’ll meet Shay (SP4) in this episode which continues a series of interviews exploring the intersection of the Enneagram and Emotional Intelligence. Shay and I talk about our shared experiences with the Enneagram and being Self-Preservation Type 4s. We discuss our relationship to the passion of Envy, taking on other people's emotions, and suffering...as well as our perception of our self-awareness.
S4E6 - You’ll meet Janet (SP3) in this episode which continues a series of interviews exploring the intersection of the Enneagram and Emotional Intelligence. Janet shares with us the role of curiosity and exploration in helping her see what was under her tendency to put on a happy face and adapt to whatever role was required of her. You'll also get to witness the result of Janet's inner and outer work by hearing the ways in which she introspects to find what's true for her throughout our conversation as she stays grounded in herself.
S4E5 - You’ll meet Darby (SP2) in this episode which continues a series of interviews exploring the intersection of the Enneagram and Emotional Intelligence. As a Self-Preservation Type 2—the countertype for 2s—Darby talks about how it was difficult for her to see the passion of Pride in her life and how she hasn't always related to the "Giver" stereotype. Darby also shares how she thought her life and relationships were just fine until she realized that doing her inner work could deepen her relationship with herself and her loved ones.
S4E4 - In this episode of a series of interviews exploring the intersection of the Enneagram and Emotional Intelligence, you'll meet Kristi, an SP1. Learn how Kristi connects to her emotions and specifically how she recognizes anger through her body. Kristi draws connections between her inner and outer personal development work and being able to experience true Serenity—the Virtue for Type 1s.
