Suze Yalof Schwartz is the Founder and CEO of Unplug Meditation, the world's first drop-in secular meditation studio. She is also the author of Unplug: A Simple Guide to Meditation for Busy Skeptics and Modern Soul Seekers.

In 2012, Suze learned a three-minute meditation that changed her life forever. Once she discovered meditation, she was determined to keep doing it but she could not find a place to easily learn and practice. After taking hundreds of hours of classes, reading every book possible, and listening to podcasts and lectures from the world’s most famous meditation teachers, Suze realized that meditation needed a makeover.

Suze's mission is to make meditation simple, accessible, powerful and interesting enough so that everyone will want to practice it and experience the benefits for themselves. This is the value she shares in this interview.

  • 358: Book Reflections – The Road to Character by David Brooks
“wisdom isn’t a body of information. It’s the moral quality of knowing what you don’t know and figuring out a way to handle your ignorance, uncertainty, and limitation.” David Brooks

This book is not written to inspire and highlight success strategies, it is written for the fundamental purpose to inspire and highlight why character is paramount.

  • 355: Leigh Martinuzzi – Replay: Why Turning Off The TV Will Change Your Life
Why Turning Off The TV Will Change Your Life

"The great distractions of life stop us from truly living, TV is the traditional favourite. We have become reliant on TV to entertain us, inform us, and help us make decisions. It is an external tool that defines us and in doing so binds us from leading a life we love. " Leigh Martinuzzi

I made a decision to turn off the TV a few years back and it was the best decision I made. Instead of watching hours of mindless or negative TV I read books. Books that inspired me, that educated me, that gave me more opportunities to observe my mind thus allow me to better understand and create a greater life.

Not all TV is bad, I for one still love a great fantasy or movie but it no longer consumes me. Like any addiction, habit is a result of continued behaviour that is difficult to break against one's strongest will.

This is one of my very first recorded solo shows launched as episode 045, that out of popularity I thought I would bring back. Enjoy!

  • 354: Loretta Breuning – The Happy Chemicals: Hard-Wired to Survive, Self-Denial, Choice, Free Will & Happiness
I speak with Loretta Breuning again to discuss the happy chemicals as it relates to happiness. We are hard-wired to survive not hard wired to be happy. Perhaps happiness is an illusion. We revisit the happy chemicals as to why they exist and than dig deeper discussing self-discipline vs self-denial, ever expanding needs and how to balance the peaks and troughs, what is good and bad, cravings, choice and free will. Beautiful conversation.
