  • 205: Leigh Martinuzzi| How To Create Continuous Self-Motivation In Achieving The Life You Desire
Please enjoy this thought on self-motivation.

Do you ever wonder how some people seem to, almost with ease, keep pushing forward despite what obstacles they might face? You may wonder how they do it, right? The key is to create and be self-motivated.

Anyone can motivate you do something with the right amount of force or reason. If death or injury is the result of not taking action, whether to you or someone you love, you are likely to take action. The level of motivation you have to take action will be equal to the consequence that occurs if you don't take action. It will also depend highly on the importance the particular action has to you.

The reason why we take action is a hint as to how we can create and remain self-motivated. You must reflect on the reason why in certain situations you take action and why sometimes you lack the motivation to do so. This will provide you with some answers in relation to you personally. We are all motivated differently.
Humans are driven towards pleasure and away from pain. The higher and more immediate the pleasure that comes from taking action the greater your motivation will be. Likewise the quicker and better an action removes you from pain the more likely it is that you will act.

If you want to be highly self motivated connect with the deeper reason as to why taking action is it important to you. If you cannot connect deeply with a why your ability to take action will be inhibited.

The second point to consider is how passionate about the action are you. The higher your passion the greater your motivation. For example, some of us are more likely to wake up at the crack of dawn to go on a fishing trip yet less inclined to do so to go to a job we dislike. The more passion you can insert into your life the higher your motivation will be.

There are many things to consider when it comes to raising your level of self-motivation however these two are very important. A final point also to consider is that we must remove our goggles that are typically short sighted so we can focus on the bigger picture of life. Don't fall in the trap of taking action only to do what brings immediate reward or to avoid punishment. Connect with the rewards that are less visible of known and allow them to drive you also.

Self-motivation is very much and individual thing. The greater the importance it has to you the more likely is is you will act and allow nothing to get in your way or slow you down. What is important to you in living the life you’ve been given?

If you always feel like you are chasing your tail or that there is not enough time in the day than you need to make it a priority to learn the techniques on mastering time. There are so many great books, online courses and coaches that can assist you in this domain including myself.

We cannot manage time but we certainly have control over how we use the time we have. The thing is that we all have exactly the same amount of hours in the day. With 168 hours a week why is it that some people seem to be able to achieve a great deal more than others. Simply, they have become more effective with their time.

Effectiveness is having success in producing the desired result. In regards to your day what does this look like? It depends largely on what you set out to achieve. If you don't know what you want to achieve you are likely to have no plan and inevitably this will end with an ineffective outcome.

  • 200: Leigh Martinuzzi| A Heart Centred Approach to Directing the Life We Desire
Why I believe it is more important to use our emotions to direct our lives rather than our logic. There must be a need for balance in both however I do feel that our emotions, our heart, will guide us more truly towards the life we desire. I also understand that being guided by our emotions is not always and easy thing to do.

Emotions are powerful! Some of us have more powerful emotions that others. We can use them to guide us, and often do however, if we can better reflect on them, without any attachment we are able to use them to make greater decisions to enhance the quality of our lives.

This is a little deep and certainly a reflection on my life and experiences with some ideas that may assist you, I hope, in living a life more truly your own and as you wish to be.

    Enjoy!

  • 198: Book Reflections| Minding the Muse: A Handbook for Painters, Composers, Writers, and Other Creators
This is a great short book and as the tittle suggests this suitable for all creative types. I really enjoyed this read partly because it was short and to the point but also because gained some really cool insights and practices that I will use to help me in my creative endeavours.

Priscilla is an artist herself with a background in writing and teaches others how to master their practice. In this book she draws on her experience and also that of other famous and successful artists. It is also an important reminder that just because something works for one person it doesn't mean it will work for you. The ideas, practices and techniques shared in this book should be approached with openness and awareness of this.
In a logical approach Priscilla shares here knowledge and insight with a progressive sense from her opening chapter, Learning to Work, to her closing chapter, Developing High Self-Regard. The chapter’s in between focus on overcoming obstacles, mastering and fine tuning your skills, to understanding your feelings and creating space in your artistic world.

I summarise in efforts to keep my review brief by saying that is a worth while read for all aspiring artists or even artists that matter looking for a little inspiration and motivation to reigniting their passion. You will be able to inspire yourself within a night.

  • 197: Leigh Martinuzzi|Thursday Thought: By Force or By Choice
If you awaken a desire within you or pay attention to your dreams things will happen to take you towards it, some times by choice and some times by force. I believe the universe listens to our human callings and then creates opportunities for us to follow. If we don't make the choices that take us along the path we seek sometimes the universe will force us to.

An awakening, a moment or a time were you had a realisation or desire of doing something more is all it takes to create the momentum you need in life. At these moments we tune our attention towards a new ideal or direction. We allow our thoughts to be generated towards that which we seek.

We then make personal efforts and take action towards it or choose not to however, if we continue to allow these thoughts to occupy our mind the universe has its own way of making us take action.
