  • 462: 3 Minute Thought – What is Your Future Vision?
A book written without a set objective or structure becomes a mishmash of ideas and jumbled thoughts.

A puzzle attempted without first seeing the image of the final result is undertaken with greater struggle.

A practice pursued without deliberate intent may never be mastered.

A structure built without blueprints may not survive an earth quake.

An artistic piece without the vision of the artist’s mind will leave the audience feeling vacant an uninspired.

What is Your Future Vision? Here is my thought as to why it is important we can all answer this question. Enjoy!

“So. Monday. We meet again. We will never be friends—but maybe we can move past our mutual enmity toward a more-positive partnership.” Julio Alexi Genao

We don't live in a utopian world. And while we all have dreams and visions of an ideal life we still will face challenges, adversity, and sorrow.

We have us up days, and we have our down days. Hopefully more up than down!

If you find yourself waking up on a Monday morning not with enthusiasm for the week ahead, not with a vision of what you wish to accomplish or intent for how you want to be but rather moaning and groaning then maybe it's a signal that something needs adjusting.

I am no guru but here is an episode I share 5 things I've tried to do and implement to kill Mondayitis. What about you?

  • 458: Book Reflection – The Evolution of Desire: Strategies of Human Mating by David M. Buss
In this book, David Buss highlights the intricacies of relationships between men and women in an evolutionary and biological sense and the strategies of human mating.

It's a really cool read! It is a book about the evolution of the desire of the sexes as it relates to matting and mateship.

If you wish to learn more about the opposite sex it's a good reference but if you're after the deeper reason why men and women dependency on each other drive our desire this book explains and a heck of a lot. At the end of the day we are not so different - ultimately we all have the same goal and purpose in life. What are your thoughts?

  • 457: 3 Minute Thought – Breaking Free from the Status Quo
In life, we can conform! We can accept the status quo, accept our life as it is, and find ways to blend. There are comfort and certainty on those paths. In that perhaps we can live an “okay.” A life indicative by ups and downs, pleasure and displeasure.

The alternative is to forget all that. Forget what we think we know and embark on our journey in life. There will still be the challenge. You will likely have your ups and downs, but which paths will bring you more joy in pursuit and greater reward in completion?

Progress, advancement, and innovation hasn't occurred in the history of life by accepting the status quo. It has happened due to those who challenge it, disrupt it, and break free from it. The same applies to the life we live. Nothing will change in conformity. As JF Kennedy famously said, “Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth.”

  • 455: The Underlying Suffering of Life and The Conditions We Create in Escape
"To live is to suffer, to survive is to find some meaning in the suffering." Friedrich Nietzsche

Buddha said, “Life is suffering.” It is however often misinterpreted. I am not here today to try to explain this misunderstanding. What I wish to do is share a quick thought on why there will always be an underlying sense of suffering in life.

Am I wrong in my pursuit to minimise the suffering in my life? I don’t think so. But what I have come to understand is that a reduction of suffering isn’t found by the constant search for pleasure or avoidance of pain but rather in dealing with every single moment regardless of the agitation, unease or joy.

Take a listen to my thoughts in this episode. I would love to hear your thoughts, too.
