For Episode 162 of The Hidden Workforce, we hear from a survivor who turned his life altering pain into a passion that changes lives and helps others.

Welcome LaQuan Taylor, owner of Atlanta’s location of NeuroFit 360 to The Hidden Workforce!

LaQuan survived being shot 15 times- 4 times in his back and the rest of the clip being unloaded into his stomach. This led to an incomplete T12 vertebra thoracic spinal cord injury. He underwent an intense recovery and rehabilitation process going from Grady Memorial’s ICU, to Shepherd Rehabilitation, a VA rehabilitation hospital, and then to NeuroFit 360. He was so impacted by his rehabilitation time with NeuroFit 360 that he brought it back to his home in Atlanta, Georgia.

NeuroFit 360 is the premier rehabilitation center for neurological conditions and injuries.

LaQuan is an overcomer and has truly turned the painful experiences he endured into a powerful platform to help people who have also experienced neurological injuries heal and reach their goals.

We are excited to welcome Patty Laushman, ACRE and IBCCES-Certified Neurodivergent life coach and certified autism specialist.

She is the founder of Thrive Autism Coaching, a coaching company that helps people who live on the autism spectrum as well as parents of loved ones who live with autism. They help people with autism all over the world discover their goals- and create active plans and solutions to reach their goals. She also shares her SBN Framework for parents to empower them to help their loved one with autism to reach and achieve their goals.

We have a new view on vision in the first episode of 2025 for Episode 160 of The Hidden Workforce!

We’re kicking off our season with featuring A New View Oklahoma! They’re a 501(c)3 nonprofit whose primary focus is serving people who are blind and live with low vision in multiple facets- from infants to grandparents- they serve all age demographics and vision loss recipients circumstances.

First, we hear from Terry Rairdon, Manager of New View’s Related Services where he talks about the many programs A New View offers to help serve people who are blind and visually impaired.

While speaking with him, we asked him if there were any stories of people they have served that stuck out to him and he immediately shared Kyle’s, so that is who we hear from next! Kyle Ford shares his story of total vision loss and how he has navigated his way back to independence and his new normal.

On this week’s segment we welcome Dr. Swarna Singhal, PhD. Dr. Singhal has 4 masters degrees and her doctorate in clinical psychology and psychotherapy. She is truly a fountain of wisdom as she shares her multitude of experiences during her career as a special education teacher, psychologist, and in working with people who live with different abilities in various capacities in her career. She gives us the inside scoop on how Burke Rehabilitation takes their ICAP to the next level and goes above and beyond for their patients.
