Hello Metal Heads - As we work our way through the winter of 2023 , its a pleasure to get the History Of Metal crew back together for some kick ass debate and reflection.
On this week’s episode we dissect the metal vs grunge battle in 1991.
This is another transition year as the new decade heats up. While the 80's metal explosion isn't completely dead yet , there is a undeniable transition going on in the heavy metal and Hard rock landscape.
METALLICA and GUNS N ROSES ruled all. Multi , Multi platinum releases followed by a classic double bill tour of the USA. Veteran arena rock legends RUSH and QUEEN released commercially successful new albums while The battle of Pasadena heats up again as VAN HALEN and DLR are still battling with new releases.
But the real fight has just begun as grunge powerhouses NIRVANA, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS and PEARL JAM released generational and historic albums. This was the start of the decade long battle .
