Hi everybody and welcome to Episode 72 of Season 2 of Red Wings Rant hosted by the Brothers of Discussion and brought to you by the Hockey Podcast Network. Where tirades and impassioned pleas about your Detroit Red Wings, finally, have a home.
Today we discuss another Restricted Free Agent signing for the Detroit Red Wings. Today the Red Wings announced they had completed contract negotiations with Adam Erne. Erne signed a two-year contract, for $2.1 Million (AAV) with the Red Wings.
Sebastian Cossa was also signed to his 3-year Entry-Level Contract. At the time, CapFriendly had his contract listed as the max $925K, but the details were yet to be confirmed for Cossa’s contract either.

What's goin on Washington Capitals Fan? Thanks for tuning into The Official Caps Chirp Podcast, your exclusive Washington Capitals Podcast on The Hockey Podcast Network! In this pre-recorded episode, Hockey Troll and Paulie Cupcakes are going to discuss what the NHL would look like if they realigned divisions to be smaller and more like the NFL. It's big brain stuff so strap in to have your minds blown...or not. Probably not, if we're being honest. But it's at least a nice exercise in "what if". We think that many hockey fans probably don't like where their team is aligned currently. Teams could experience a more competitive schedule, see more conference and league opponents, and may see more exciting rivalries based on geography be formed and nurtured.
Do you think that the NHL should realign? Let The Official Caps Chirp Podcast know by chirping them @capschirp on all social media or our host individually @hockeytrollin and @cupcakepaulie.

Today we are joined by Flames analyst Kent Wilson to discuss the state of our beloved Flames. Kent is a long time Flames writer who has written for Flamesnation and The Athletic with a keen eye for analytics. He's an all around great and intelligent dude and we enjoyed chatting with him. We delved into:
We’re all a little "Crazy" is brought to you by the #SameHere Global Mental Health Movement & The Hockey Podcast Network.
Episode 18 :
Featuring Brent Sopel
Brent Sopel is a retired National Hockey League (NHL) player, who won a Stanley Cup with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2021. After his daughter was diagnosed with dyslexia, Sopel was also diagnosed with the learning disability after the symptoms sounded similar to his struggles. This inspired him to create the Brent Sopel Foundation to help promote and raise funds for youth with dyslexia. Sopel is also a mental health advocate. Lately, he is speaking out and encouraging his former teammates to comment on the Chicago Blackhawks Sexual Abuse Case currently under investigation, which allegedly took place while he was with the Blackhawks in 2010.
Hosts:
Darren Rovell: Sports business insider
Theo Fleury: NHL great, mental health advocate & member of the #SameHere Alliance
Eric Kussin: 20-year professional sports executive, mental health advocate, and founder of the #SameHere global mental health movement

“This topic isn’t for 1 in 5 of us with mental illness, it’s for 5 in 5 whose mental health has been impacted".- Theo Fleury
We’re All A Little “Crazy” is a 501c3 founded by 15-year professional sports executive, Eric Kussin, bringing together Athletes, Celebrities, and Expert Practitioners.
A big fan of marketing, psychology, and sport, Eric combined all three and began reaching out to his contacts to discuss how they could attack the mental health epidemic strategically and differently than had ever been done before. He had to bring purpose to his own experience and believed he must have gone through that horrific period for a reason. With suicides at a 30-year high, and drug/opioid abuse out of control, he knows something major must change with the messaging if we’re to reverse these negative trends. He was overwhelmed by the positive responses he received from athletes, celebrities, and practitioners all over the globe, wanting to join in, all of whom bought into his vision of bringing a louder voice to this cause through a Global Alliance under a singular, bold but inclusive brand message: #SameHere (mental health lives on a continuum and we are ALL impacted…we ALL have a story).
The charter Celebrity Alliance launched with a formal rally with over 300 supporters in attendance on November 14th, 2017, in New York City. There, The Alliance introduced their “#SameHere” Movement, uniting the world through one ASL sign language hand gesture (you see depicted in their logos and profile pictures) that communicates – no matter where we live, or what our background or our accolades, we all go through life’s inevitable challenges, and we should have a society where it is openly acceptable to talk about those challenges, thus: “#SameHere!” Video. Find out more about the origin story that led to The Alliance’s usage of #SameHere.

Players Mentioned in the Podcast
Kirill Kaprizov: Has tremendous on-ice awareness and intelligence, shoots the puck with precision and is a deft passer from the wing position. Can line up on either side of center. His lower base helps him win board battles. Can be guilty at times of holding onto the puck a little bit too long, though he has the talent to get away with it on occasion. Lacks optimum height and bulk, so he could stand to get a little bit stronger.
Kevin Fiala: Kevin Fiala is an offensive forward with game-breaking potential. He is a respectable and shifty skater with quick legs and explosive acceleration. Fiala owns a slick skill-set with soft hands, good stickhandling and brilliant puck-control. Fiala is not very big or strong yet, but his quickness and agility lets him avoid getting hit or held back along the boards. Has a wealthy arsenal of shooting tools which, combined with his creativity and finishing abilities, makes him the player you turn to if you need a goal.
Darnell Nurse: Nurse is a strong two-way defenseman with good size and mobility. Plays a very solid game, good positioning and rarely makes any mistakes. Enjoys playing physical.
Seth Jones: A defenseman with an excellent frame. Jones' athleticism allows him to be a very good skater for a player of his size. He has excellent mobility and is solid both offensively and defensively. Jones gives a smart first pass and is also capable of utilizing his skating ability to bring the puck up himself. He has good hockey sense and is an asset on the powerplay thanks to his mobility, puck-handling and a very dangerous slap shot.
